15 minutes in and Omar hasn't put a foot wrong in the few minutes I've viewed so far. Omar is the RCB in a back three complimented by two wingback. 0 - 0 so far
21' Omar takes a man on 1v1 and stripes the ball. Good positioning because the attacker would have been through on goal.
25' Gonzalez caught with the ball at his feet but was able to deflect it out of bounds for a throw in.
Appears it's actually a 4 man back line with Hernandez or Medina periodically dropping back to the CB position. Very confusing at times but clearly intentional.
33' Gonzalez nearly scores on a set piece but was a fraction off side. The effort was really impressive since the ball was hit with a ton of power and he deflected it over the keeper near side. So close Omar!
39' Huge recovery run and tackle from Gonzalez which stripes the Saprissa attacker who was lone on goal. Murillo over committed and Gonzalez was out of position but able to recover to make a important tackle.
44' Murillo completely whiffs clearing a ball and it sends a Saprissa attacker through on net yet again. Omar sweeps up the ball before the attacker can really take advantage. Great read on his part.
Half time: Saprissa is using the home advantage well by maintaining a stream of offensive movements but they have largely been toothless. Part of that is they really don't appear to have the individual talent to take advantage of the mistakes Pachuca has made. Omar has actually been one of the better performers by nearly scoring a beautiful header and making some very important challenges in the Pachuca final third. However, as has always been the case, he generally is a huge liability with the ball at his feet and his athleticism look worse than usual.
Second half underway for about ten minutes... Pachuca in the drivers seat now which means a lot less Gonzalez. He's had to move the ball around the backline maintaining possession but it's pretty routine.
66' Pachuca GK picks up a back pass in the box and Saprissa get a free kick. More cups being thrown in frustration.
77' Gonzalez provides a beautiful long ball to switch the attack. He hasn't had much to do in the second half...
83' Gonzalez misses cutting out a through ball that is just out of reach and it lands to a Saprissa attacker who forces a save on the post. Corner is cleared.
Game ends 0 - 0. Omar wasn't a big part of the second half as the overall quality fizzled out once tempers started flaring up. However, the first half was really good on his part and he was a stand out performer on the backline.
