I just sent an email off to Kat and Sea, but if you guys could answer it, even better.

Joel, i'm looking in your direction.

I was watching the live at the garden DVD last night. During Wishlist, one of the guitarists (Mike??, hey it was late) used a black thing in his right hand and sort of angled it up and down on the strings, instead of playing "normally".

What is that black thing, and what does it do? I'm guessing it is responsible for that sound at the end of the live versions. But what exactly does it do and what is it?

Also, tomorrow is the last day to make sure you're eligible for the holiday single. So get on it! And we might actually have it by the intended holiday this time around. :)

It's a couple days late, but happy birthday to Ed. The paper I read listed his age as 40, FWIW. (His age is in question.)

And keep checking your mailboxes for the Christmas single.

    "G6. What is an E-bow?
A: An E-bow is basically a magnet. More specifically, it's a small manufactured device (you should be able to find them at any decent music store) that fits in the palm of a guitar player's picking hand, and when turned on, creates a small magnetic field. When the E-bow is held just over the top of the strings (at about the area of the pickups), the generated magnetic field makes the strings continuously vibrate/sustain giving the instrument a sound as if the strings were being "bowed". Continue to fret notes with your left hand as you would normally, however use the E-bow in place of a pick. An example of the E-bow effect can be heard during the final solo part of "Wishlist". "

news from a while back, but... (actually, that was posted before I posted the above...)
We sincerely apologize but in spite of our best intentions, it now looks like the holiday single won't be shipping until, we hope, Monday, December 27. We thank you for your patience and we wish you the best of the holiday season. Peace to all.

    ---------
Well isn't life grand? At least we'll get them by mid-January. I'll post here when i've got mine, other people do the same...

    It’s okay,
    It’s okaaaaaay,

I don't think so. I think I got my 2003 one in about May of 2004. Maybe March, I forget.. whatever the month was...2003 was a busy year for them, though and I doubt they had time to record the one song.

But still, as long as I get it, i'm happy.

See this needle. A-see my hand.
Drop, drop, dropping it down oh so gently.
Well here it comes. I touch the plane.
Turn me up, won't turn you away.

    Spin the black circle.

    Pull it out. A-paper sleeve.
Oh my joy. Only you deserve conceit.
I'm so big. A-my whole world.
I'd rather you, rather you than her.

    Spin the black circle.

You're so warm. The ritual when I lay down your crooked arm.

    Spin the black circle.

    ------------------

    The waiting drove me mad....

    -----------

And sorry Jim, but the single is not for you:
    This is not for you.

My friends call me Ed, they call me.
    My friends they don't scream.
My friends don't call. My friends don't.

All that's sacred comes from youth.
    Dedication. Naive and true.
With no power. Nothing to do.
I still remember. Why don't you? Don't you?

    This is not for you.
Never was for you. ******** you.
    This is not for you.

Although perhaps a trade could be in order.....

Come on Tim and Kerensa...let's get this stuff mailed out.

    *camps out by mailbox*

    AND....
    Not For You
    Time: 3:51
    Abbruzzese, Ament, Gossard, McCready, Vedder

Although WMP lists the album version (off RVM) at 5:53. Weird.

    News dated 1/11.

Fan club singles are finally pressed and should be sent from Portland, Oregon soon. As in today or tomorrow.

Molo cds - 10C gets those Friday or Monday. Once they sort through them, they're sent.

There is a newsletter that should (hopefully) be sent by the end of the month, according to 10C. Which, should mean sometime...

Jimminy Christmas... And it's always like this? Oh well... I'll take it sometime. Maybe can be the Kryptonite birthday single.

Here's a link to the pearl jam forums:

Oh, and make sure your shipping info is current on Wednesday 1/19.

Here's something else that's interesting. I can only pick this station up in my car though. Maybe on my system, but for some reason, I don't give this station as much attention as I probably should. :(

And I got my single today. "B" side is good stuff. They've put some good stuff on the b sides... Drifting, the newest single's B side... Of course, the 2000 single is all excellent with Crown of Thorns and Falling in Love.

I had a chance to buy Olympic Platinum a few weeks ago...
Eddie on vocals, Brendan on bass, Stone on drums, Nick on keyboard, Mike on the phone

Interesting.... Mike on the phone... And that's not surprising.. The guy probably really COULD play a phone if you gave it to him.

(because some people might not want to know)
[result]I've heard a tour for 10C members, i've heard a world tour starting in Canada. We know there's a new record coming sometime this year (i've heard possibly in May). Either way, it's obvious they want to send us something, and everything I hear it's either ticket-related or actual music.

Perhaps i'm jumping the gun, but...they need our mailing addresses current by Monday or Tuesday & there's a new record coming out maybe in May. Perhaps we get a "mini-record" to preview the new stuff??...[/result]

Listing to Octane on Sirius radio... They say "Pearl Jam coming up", I expect it to be a Jeremy, Even Flow, etc. One of those songs that's continually played on radio.

nu-uh. Instead i'm listening to RVM and wondering what the "big surprise" is that rumor pit mentioned...

So I don't know what the big deal is. But all the signs continue to point towards something which i've put above in result tags.

www.pearljamlive.com is all I can say for now. Now I only gotta figure out how to capture it onto mp3.

Ok. Check those emails and gas up those cars. The news is what we thought it was going to be.

They're coming here as well i'm sure. Maybe this winter?? The big outside venue in Columbus is clear channel owned, so i'm hoping they do a winter tour. And for more reasons than just that.

$55+ per ticket (minimum 2)? I miss the days when they fought TM and tickets were only $28-$30. Q

Yeah, I know. At least they're good seats though. I was listening to the Chicago 1995 show last week (www.pearljamlive.com) and Ed pointed out to the guys in the suites and said:

"There's some fancy people in the skybox ... they're blinking to us, sending us a message up there." The crowd boos and he tells them not to get angry: "... you know life has a way of working itself out, you know? Think about this for a sec, right? These are the rich, fancy people, right? They got all the luxury, right? Looks to me, like they're the farthest ones away from the stage and they're behind a f*c*in' window ... you hang in the trenches long enough, it pays off ..

Jim is the exception to this rule. I'd rather use my 10C seats, but I know he'd rather hang out in the lawn.

And those are in US funds too. :(

That's the way it was on the last US tour though. You had to buy 2 seats (only 2 per night, but unlimited nights were allowed), but at least you could sell your other ticket to a friend for face value.

Ok guys, time to bump the Pearl Jam blog to the top.

Got some good news and some bad news. No, no, Ed, Mike, Stone, and everyone else is ok. *phew*

10C membership is being increased to $20 a year. But, you can still beat the increase by re-upping (or signing on for the first time) by July 1st. "You can renew or join before July 1 to avoid the rate increase for the coming year."

And, they also have some exciting plans on the horizon.
