Just saw a story on the news about how Jan 6 insurrection was 93% white with a vast majority coming from counties where white majority population is in steady decline and quickly becoming a minority. So I guess it really was a WHITE RIOT! No surprise there as it's what we already knew but somehow passes as breaking news? I don't think this was what Joe Strummer was singing about. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/opinion/capitol-riot-white-grievance.html
A long read that is fascinating and enlightening. Less about Dylan and more about your soul: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/...ampaign=onsite-share&utm_brand=the-new-yorker
Two and a half years after buying tickets, finally saw Rammstein last night. Watching elderly German men my age carrying and shooting off flamethrowers is surprisingly entertaining! The guitar riffs are permanenlty seared into my brain! Being at a packed Soldier Field is a very novel experience.
I saw them at the Odeum in Villa Park way back in the day. It was... something, but it was entertaining.
******** I should have went. Forgot Megadeth was a week ago too. Damn. Oh well concert’s always seem fun in theory but then you get there and spend 2 hours listening to songs you’ve heard 100x just with worse audio quality and then fight the crowd for an hour trying to get out of the lot. Or maybe that’s just tinley. Wasn’t Maiden supposed to be at the United center?
Listening to The Jam to help drown out the odd disconnected feeling I have with the Fire's season ending. Well, with the MLS season over (don't care about MLS playoffs absent the Fire, which means I haven't cared about the playoffs in a long time), on to waiting for the World Cup. At least we can see what 6,500 dead migrant workers built so we can watch 22 millionaires run around and chase a white ball and "glory for their nations" (or, in the case of many teams, including the US, the nation that could convince them to play for the national team).
I just got and am looking forward to this one: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Machine_Still_Kills_Fascists
Check out Christy Moore covering a song written by some guy named Sands. It is, among other things, a tip of the hat to Gordon.
I also dig the Roches. I had no idea this was produced and backed by Robert Fripp. Yet another thing on which the incomparable Tony Levin has appeared.
