Was humming this song all morning. It's just so darn aesthetically pleasing. The soft, muted tone combined with that piano just makes it perfect. Julian Clasabanca's voice is so well captured in this song. I know The Strokes are known for louder/higher octane songs, but sometimes those are the bands that do soft best. If I ever get to do a project for music theory explaining what makes a good song, I would use this one as an example.
This thread needs some Gentle Giant. In fact, the entire world needs more Gentle Giant. A very avant 70s prog band everyone has vaguely heard of but knows noting about. Their arrangement are mazing and they each played four or five instruments.
So you're still stuck on the whole Napster debacle? Funny thing is I never shared anything Metallica via Napster (hardly used the program at all believe it or not) as I already owned every album. I was more annoyed with Napster users days before they were shut down because they caused my ping times in games to be in the 250-300 range with the heavy usage on my node.
Bringing back Garbage because I'm just now teaching the rest of the radio station about the last great Alt Rock band that revolutionized the way music was made.
The fact that I have not been relatively happily married to Shirley Manson for the past 15 years is a loss for the entire world, or just me. Edit: Doing the math, I was still married 15 years ago, so that would have been bigamy (and big of her, too). So, 14 years ago. That being said, I have been happily unmarried to my partner for the past 13 years, so few complaints from me, I guess.
I mostly used Napster for out-of print or not available in Waukegan alt rock, but Lars is still a douche, Metallica has been asymptotically approaching Whitesnake for two decades, and those napster videos are freaking hilarious.
Not going to argue that Lars is douche worthy material, however James is an incredible rhythm guitarist (you can tell he was a piano player in his youth, just listen to the intro of Battery). One thing nobody can deny is Metallica's influence on the metal genre. They were trend setters. One example of this is the self titled black album. After that was released every other prominent metal band followed suit with the style for the next couple of years: Slowed down and simple albums.
I know some other people on here's opinions of Jack White, but I was very excited the moment I saw this. Carolina Drama is a wonderful story and I always love acoustic stuff:
A great song. Although I like this version better: Longer version (this video is not that great, though)
That version always pops up on the juke box, but I have never bothered to play it. They do "clear up" the language a bit. ("where the 'brothers' feel cold"?!? "kiss tush or crack"?!?) Great version of the song! Thank you.
