The new crest is pretty classy, although I liked the old one too.

Not bad, definitely an improvement. Now, if they can get Mathis to see a shrink, then things are really looking up for the Metros.

not to be picky - but the name of the team is already on the crest. can't we either leave the shirt blank or get a sponsor on it. here's the wishful thinking. otherwise, the shirt is frickin' great.

So, does it say New Jersey on the away shirt?

    Thought not.

Amazing that you can already preorder this sucker on the metros site.

Of course, all they're promising is delivery in time for next season, which could be five months away.

The shirt is very nice looking. Kind of a AC Milan look to it.

I love it, finally a real traditional look to it...and they updated the metrostars website...you can see they are trying for a new image...now lets see if they can actually create one

The jersey looks like the Nike Jerseys from the World Cup.

    Sorry, not my favorite.

    The crest is cool, though.

The chants of "Juventus wants their jersey back" are now modified to "Milan wants their jersey back" And didn't I see that Nike design somewhere else...like for EVERY team this year from the World Cup!

My favorite part of the blurb:

Within the crest, which is divided into four quadrants-two red, two black--are a soccer ball (lower right corner), the team’s red-and-black uniform stripes (upper right corner), and a star in the upper left corner signifying “MetroStars” as well as excellence.

So you mean the giant METROSTARS in the middle of the crest didn't signify "MetroStars"? The excellence part is unintentional humor at its best.

All joking aside, this looks great (I liked the old stuff too.) Bravo to the marketing department. If I were a Metro fan, the pre-order would be in today.

Oh My God. I can't frigging believe it.

They did it. I am truly surprised.

That crest is a fantastic improvement. It is great.

The newest jersey is cool too, though the last one was nice as well.

Way to go MLS. Enjoy Metros.

I hate to admit it, but that's a nice jersey and a much better logo.

Does the star in the crest count for the first MLS Cup they win, or do they put stars above the crest?

Is the old logo merchandise on the discounts racks already?

That jersey is the best looking jersey in MLS right now, although the Miami Umbro jerseys were my all-time favorite. The crest is handsome, too.

Congrats, Metro, and good luck next year against every team 'cept the Galaxy!

  17. The new jersey is the basic Nike set...same as Inter's excep with AC Milan's colors. So lets think....This is AC Milan's jersey if they were a Nike team. Great improvement though. I love it...but we need more teams with different colors. Everyone has frickin red and black.

Dig the crest, hate the jersey. Too much black.

I was hoping they would stick with black and white. Otherwise very nice.

The away jersey won't say New Jersey as the team has officially dropped the NY/NJ, if I recall correctly.

I don't hate the jersey, but I had the same impression: too much black. I prefer the current model. The crest is a big improvement. I always thought the old one was a joke that got the 'okay' by mistake. I ignored it and preferred the team name in lieu of a crest. Now, we've got one worthy of display.

As for a TEAM on display, if Bradly can't whip us into shape we might as well close the shop. I think he faces a chore similar to Hudson's in DC. But Hudson is all infectious enthusiasm; Bradley looks like a man ready to drive his head through a brick wall. A serious person, indeed.

Yes, the stars signifying championships usually go above a team's crest. So, the Metros' logo does not breach the etiquette.

Why would Bob want to join the boneyard of MLS coaches? 10 to 1 he ever wins a title there.

Now all you need is a new stadium announced and it would make the transformation complete.
