What??!? There are many other leagues Ronaldo (Brazil) would play before he goes to a country that doesn't really care about soccer because they are in love with cricket. Most notably MLS. Admittedly America is not in love with soccer but MLS draws a lot more fans and revenue than the I-League does.
I don't know anything about I-League but I know some people from India and they have no idea where soccer is even played. All they know is cricket. If Ronaldo or someone like that played in MLS it would be higher profile and they would be in more of an international spotlight playing in America than India.
Soccer is equal to cricket in the more eastern parts of India. The country went wild when Maradona came over.
Kolkata is soccer crazy. In the two other big cities, Mumbai and Delhi, people don't give a **** about soccer.
There are other big cities in India besides those. They don't care about soccer in Bangalore or Chennai (Madras) either as far as I know. It's all cricket, cricket, cricket there. Chirp chirp chirp!! LOL!

Congratulations to our boys and Bob Houghton. Under him, I think this team can take their game a level higher and have a decent performance in next year's Asian Championships which we are going to host. Syria hasn't conceded a single goal in the entire tournament and we did a good job against them. Due to work commitments I could only catch the game from the second period of extra time. Luckily for me both the goals were scored in that window. Did anyone see the entire game? How did the team fare?
I really have no idea. But I guess the number would not be very high. There is a magazine called Ad-vent India, which gives end of the month TRPs for each event/TV show in India. They also give estimated viewership. Once I get my hand on next months edition of Ad-vent, I may be able to furnish a number.
