Au contraire, mon frere, it's a perfect appointment. A man who can sell sweetened caffeine water as an energy drink might be the only one who can sell the Metros/RBs as a soccer team.

Jokes aside, I am very curious to see who they finally get to manage the team. I think it'll tell a lot about how serious they are.

And in the other part of my post I said that these things are certainly important, but Eskandarian is a proven goal scorer AND contributes in other ways. So while your point is valid that you don't necessarily have to be a true goal scorer to be an effective forward, isn't a true scorer that does all the other things that much better?

I would hope that in three games he would set up his teammates with some chances. It doesn't mean he's been as effective as anyone else on the squad.

According to DC's website, 4 shots, only one of those on frame.

I think this could be perfect. Bring Lucio on for Moreno around the hour mark, and Walker on for Eskandarian with 20 minutes to go.

Like I said, I think Lucio is a solid player and I hope you don't think I'm just trying to pick on him or you for that matter. I just don't think he's been United's most effective option out there at this point, so maybe he needs a start or two on the bench to get more focused?

Good grief. This continuing soap opera formerly known as the Metrostars continues to develop ever new layers of absurdity.

I remember many calling for Esky to be benched/traded last year during his slump. He didn't score for like 11 games. I think we should all give Lucio some time to find the goal.

Obviously Nowak sees something in training that leads him to believe Lucio will be successful in MLS. I think Filomeno will be very good for the team. He's a hard worker and has some fight in him. I'll admit I'm on the bandwagon. I like all our Argentine players and think they'll deliver for us this year.

Another competitor might be "DangerMouse37", who lives here in DC and goes to home games and drums in the Barra, but whose work requires him to leave the country on occasion. He probably has the award for "largest distance travelled just to see an MLS game" sewn up (Nairobi-LA for MLS Cup 2004 shortly after arrival).

Hope all of our traveling contingent have a safe and successful trip to the Swamp. I'm bummed I can't go this time. I'll find out the result on the 30th, when I catch up on two DCU matches.

I'm probably just being paranoid -- I'm good at that -- but for some reason I smell gamesmanship (i.e. that they're not questionable at all). Are they allowed to play games with the injury report? Attempt to make us think it'll be easy?

Even if the report is accurate, I still think they'll try to play Djorkaeff and Meola if they possibly can. After starting out with three straight draws, and with all the crap that's happened this past week, I'm sure the Austrians really feel the need to have the team show something decent on the home pitch; they're really not going to want to lose at home to us.

(which is yet another reason why we need to beat them, of course)

Guess Thiago won't be warming up tomorrow where we could say howdy to him. More transition for the bulz.

I was just gonna post about this. Peguero is a good pickup for them, actually. I wonder when they have him.

And I wouldn't think that Youri's knee contusion would feel any better with the Giants Stadium turf.
