So the "glass is half full" side of me makes me want to say that Glen actually played better today than he has all year. Yes, his finishing was horrible and he gave the ball away a lot, but he did get himself into good positions, and for the first time that I remember he wasn't offside on any stupid plays where he was being lazy. He was more active than I can remember, and he actually hustled and won the ball a couple of times.

But the "glass is half empty" side of me says that the guys was on the receiving end of several great passes (one from Wondo on the through ball that put him 1v1 with the keeper, one from Jasseh on the cross that he missed, and a few other I don't remember who made the pass) and didn't come close to finishing on frame. He had 5 shots, none of them on goal. He needs to put at least a couple of those shots on frame and give them a chance. He pulled a couple of his "get lightly hit and fall down looking to draw the foul" plays. Also, there was one time when he didn't look up when he was in the box with the ball or he would have seen Gjertsen wide open on his left or Wondo on his right. Instead he lost control of the ball and tried to draw a fould for a PK, unsuccessfully.

If he can ever start shooting on frame, he could be a dangerous player out there. But I prefer players who combine well with others and can make a good pass as well as shoot, and Glen doesn't seem to have any vision (or he's jsut selfish) and I think that hurts Wondo and the other guys he plays with as he must be hard to play alongside.

Amazing how this team only has one somewhat good striker.

There was one cross to Glen (from the left) that he missed, but the main reason he missed it was because it was slightly deflected by a retreating NYRB player between him and the passer. That's the good news (for Glen). The bad news is... he was actually offside on the play.

The last time I had to listen to this much of Shep Messing was during the '07 Gold Cup. At least this time he didn't have to try to pronounce "Guardado".

I agree, even though his finishing sucked, the rest of his game was great.

Great? Anywhere else in the world, a striker who has missed on all the chances Glen has had would be considered failure and here he is great? Are you kidding? This guy is crap!

You proved my point. Thats why he is on City and not on United...

City down the toilet United pull the chain, down goes City, United won the freaking game!

That is not why. He was one of the most popular players on United before he left.

Yeah but City (then or historically for that matter) wasn't in the same class as United and Tevez was gone after two years. Either way, there is no comparison at least Teves scored goals. I wish Glen was as good as Tevez but he is not even close.

I don't give a flaming crap about some striker whos plays for, or used to play for, City, ManUre, Arse, or any other club not in MLS. I only barely care about the other clubs in our league.

Glen stinks. Period, full stop. He's flat awful.

He ran around a bit more effectively this last game. He got in some good positions, but he was still crap and we still need at least one or two decent strikers. The worst part of this is that Frank thinks Glen had a good game. I'm not sure how that's possible, but hey, this is the Quakes. We can screwup more ways than any other five teams put together. Gah!

    GO QUAKES!! :(

Nope, not this Sunday. But he has shown today that he can be a distraction while someone else blasts it into the net. :)

On the bright side (at least for this season), once all (or even most) of the Earthquakes players become healthy, Bobby Convey can return to his natural left mid spot and Chris Wondolowski can be paired up top with the DP. :)

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Glen will never be a clinical finisher but he is like a bull & is very dangerous on the attack. Now, the Quakes have at least three good finishers surrounding Glen which should reduce the pressure on Glen to score but allow him to the the other things which he does well.

Keep your chin up, Man!! I have a good feeling about our offense w/ you, Geo, Khari, and Wondo ;)

Glen does not practice visualization and focusing. He's not centered. Gets too excited and then blows his shot. He's got an overdose of eagerness.

    Thanks. :)

Interestingly, would Frank Yallop have even given Chris Wondolowski a shot as a starter if the rest of the forwards ahead of him (including Cornell Glen) weren't injured at the beginning of the season?

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

In the hopes of curing Glen's scoring / finishing drought, I'm going to christen him with a new nickname (kinda long but who cares, it it works):

    Cornish Game Glen

I wish I was. But you can tell how over-excited the guy gets when he gets that ball. He needs to learn that inner calm (at least a little bit). ;)

Probably not. It happens all the time. But the breaks are the breaks.
