Rumour has it that the CV of a certain Marcelo Salas is sitting on the Mariners desk. I'm aware it's a far out rumour, so no need to contribute with the doubtfulness of this rumour. But at just 32, he would rip up this league! Petrovski wouldn't be too pleased.

Lawrie Mckinna has asked for permission to sign Simon Lynch... Sasho Petrovski is a good signing also

I can't find news on that anywhere. Where did you hear that mate? I would have thought QLD would want to hang onto him anyway.

In Thursdays news... Danny Vukovic was voted members player of the year. Fully deserved in my honest opinion, he has had to save our arses many a time this season, no pun intended. Here's how the vote was divided:

    Vukovic: 31%
    Wilko: 18%
    Gumpy: 10%
    Kwassy: 7%
    Brown: 4%

No surprises for the top two really, congratulations to Danny. Gumpy unfortunately had his season disjointed by injury thanks to a hack of a tackle fom a hack of a player Leijer. Kind of stuffed up our season too the way we do rely a great deal on him in the midfield.

Special mention should go to Mori. I didn't vote, but I probably would have given him a '1' (It was a 3,2,1 vote system). He may be a QLD player but without him in that brilliant few weeks... we'd likely have a giant wooden spoon displayed not so proudly at Bluetongue stadium.

Well obviously he went to QLD after he finished his stint with us and I recall Farina being vocal about convincing Mori to stay on a season. I have no idea really- QLD have been very quiet so far since the season ended.

He won't be coming back to CCM.

How about the Simon Lynch thing, where did you hear that?

We get to face off in the season opener El-Capitano. Looks like I'm going to have to blackmail someone into coming. My former co-frequenter of CCM-Sydney games has gone off overseas for a year...

And for anyone that's interested.... Andrew Clark will be representing football on Thursday night on temptations lol!
We have an almost unsurmountable handicap with Archie 'thanks pope' Thompson in tow to be honest. I reckon league could bring along Willie Mason, AFL Cousins and Union Tuiavii and we'd still be severely handicapped.

No names in particular that I know of that are drawing particular attention. Though I'm a bit out of the loop living in Sydney now.

I heard rumours of some 14 yr old whiz kid a while back, but did some research and didn't come up with anything. I don't have any contacts on the 'inside' so I guess I'll wait a couple of years to find out about that one.

Two of the boys given AIS scholarships this year are Central Coast boys. Best of luck to them

Mariners faced the Malaysian National Team last night at Pluim Park. CCM came away with a 3-0 win against the Malaysians, a 1 goal better achievement than the well ACL practised effort of a match fit Sydney FC only last week. :D

Might be that young gun you wanted ruud van semz ;)

The thing with this 'official thread' business is I can't tell whether news like this deserves a thread or simply gets whacked in here. Anyhow, overnight the mighty CCM lost in the grand final of the Hong Kongs sevens to Aston Villa, noting we beat Aston Villa in the group stage and Arsenal in the quarters!

I can't figure it out, but I think I'm missing a game ...anyway, road to the final:

    Groud D
CCM 2 - Hong Kong FC 0 (Jedinak, Boogard)
    CCM 2 - Aston Villa 0 (Simons 2)

    Quarter Finals
    CCM 2 - Arsenal 0 ( Osman, Porter)

    Semi Finals
CCM 1 Happy Valley 1 AET (5-4 on pens)

    Final
    Aston Villa 2 - CCM 0

What an effort! Actually Lawrie says the boys were just farked by the final. We've only had a week and a half of pre-season training so it is a fantastic effort seing the Villa boys have come through a full season. Look what happened when we were both fit :p

Its easier to keep all thing Coast in here!

Good effort by the boys. Good to see the profile of the A-League being raised by all teams representing Australia.

I cant wait until some Melbourne guy comes in here and says that they'll go in that comp next year and show you guys how to not choke :D

Were there any big names in the Arsenal & Villa teams? Either way, a good result for Central Coast.

I don't think so Wezza, but nonetheless, to warrant a place at Arsenal, or even Aston Villa you're no slouch.

    Interesting facts:
Happy Valley beat both Celtic and Spurs
    Aston Villa beat PSV 3-0
Which of course means we'd wipe the floor with Sputrs, Celtic, PSV :p

He never scoffed. He took his chances overseas and it didn't work out for him. Bloody great to have him back. He had offers from England and Germany too.

    Sonic is back :D

Him leaving to better his career is fine, what i'm referring to was an interview with him about december ish when he was asked if he would consider coming home since he wasn't getting any first team action. He basically laughed and gave the impression that the A-League was a backwater and he'd find anywhere in europe before coming home
