The best of @GjamdjPi vs Reading.Enjoy!! pic.twitter.com/pAkn95kQK6— Anfield Analytics (@AnfldAnalytics) February 6, 2023
Given the way some of the golden balls she served were wasted, Nagano would need some better team-mates. They managed to win anyway vs Reading, but vs other teams wasting so much could be costly.
I'd say Liverpooll has much better PR team than West Ham. Nagano was good vs. Reading but Hayashi was even better vs. Arsenal. Still... it is Nagano among this round best XI.
You probably all know this by now but I haven’t seen it mentioned here so just in case…the SBC squad will be announced 2pm on Wednesday JST.

I was wondering if Moriya would get called up, because she has been very good for INAC so far this season. I think she deserves it. I imagine that Ikeda is concerned about Shimizu at wing back, because she has not looked comfortable. Also she is having problems with all the space she has to defend at West Ham, though that may have improved because I have not watched her over the last month. I am merely speculating, but he might try Shimizu in a back three. Ishikawa does not deserve this call up, but she plays for Urawa and has played under Ikeda throughout her junior career. I think there are better defenders than her at the moment. I want to stress that I like her and think she has tremendous potential, but there is no way she is a better defender than Ohga, but then again that goes for most defenders in Japan. I know I am biased. Iwabuchi has looked poor but gets called up because she is Iwabuchi. He could have called up Yumura in her stead who works harder, is far more consistant and less likely to get injured. Three of the four forwards are prone to injury, so who knows if they will be alright come the world cup. I really hope Kobayashi can have a good six months of football, because she is good when fit. The squad has no real surprises and it is pretty solid. For me Kinoshita is the one player who is unlucky along with Ohga. But I would also like to see Yoshida and Nakashima get a call up at some point. Nakashima in particular is a clever footballer with a good football brain and she has really kicked on from last season. Oh yeah, they miss Chiba.
I may not value DF's ability properly, but I can pick some names from WE League, for example Kishi, Iwashita, Okamoto and bra bra.
Chifure coach Tomoe Tanabe seen in Stuttgart. Future partnership between clubs in the works? VfB Stuttgart women's football team (est. 1994 with history of women playing football there tracking back to 1974) currently plays in Germany 4th tier league... however since 2021 when women's football department was founded for the first time in the history of VfB Stuttgart the women's first team is part of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG , the company that runs the professional football department of VfB Stuttgart.
Very happy to see Moriya finally called up. Early in her career she got injured at the wrong time but seems fit and healthy now. Mina Tanaka is not in this selection. I am not sad. I am surprised Hamano already got the call. Overall this looks good
Wow! I missed that. I just assumed she was in the squad. Is she injured? She has been good so far this season and she offers something from dead balls so I am a little surprised she has not been included. Who is a bra bra? Kishi and Okamoto are both very solid, seasoned professionals who are both tall. I mean Kishi is probably too old at 29. Okamoto had a very good game against Nojima earlier in the season and should be coming into her prime.I do not know enough about Iwashita. Ishikawa is a good, young player, but does anybody else remember her performance in the under 20 world cup final? I think she might be unfit, because she did not start against Beleza in the final of the Empress Cup and was absent for the semi-final. Or maybe he has given up on her?
Is Yuika Sugasawa injured? She's quite aged (32 yo), but, unlike Mina Tanaka, she has always scored her share of goal in NT and she remians the top-scorer of the last WE League and the leader of the current one (just 5 goals in 7 or 8 matches, but more than any other FW currently playing in Japan). Since our main problem remain scoring, I wouldn't have minded having an experienced FW in the mix.
Is it just me or are we missing good defensive midfielders in the squad? The only one I see is Hayashi and she tends to disappear on bad days. Nagano tends to make very dangerous mistakes and Naomoto did a really good job covering for her vs Finland. The more I look at this list the more worried I am. Though I do think all these players all have justifiable reasons to be in this squad. In other news FIFA just released a documentary about the WE league. “Queen of WE” consists of 4 episodes.
She does contribute defensively but I’d rather that not be her main role…. I think Hasegawa tends to make dangerous errors too even if they aren’t as often as Nagano. Though I haven’t been watching her recently at Man City because their games bore me out of my mind.
As a DMF, the ideal one is Yanase, but she has been long absent. Another one may be Goshima, but Ikeda doesn't seem to add new names in the squad.
Goshima also does a good job in terms of defense, but she too just suffered a serious injury and is scheduled to return at the end of this year.
