Jefferson Farfán is analyzing some offers from MLS, Mexico and Alianza! If it wasn’t for the knee injury “la Foquita” would’ve already joined LA Galaxy, there was a deal that was almost done before he had to go under the knife again.#ArribaPerú #TransferTalk pic.twitter.com/LzAu5OoBeo— Diego Montalvan (@DMontalvan) December 4, 2020 A few reports are saying Farfan was close to sign with LA a few weeks ago. I don't know if it's trustable though.
Damn this guy's still around? Used to watch him with Schalke in the early 2010s. At the time he was a rich man's version of what we probably wanted Yony to be; a fast and powerful winger who can beat his man 1v1 with speed and skill and crash the box to assist or score.
Someone want a new DM? Fernandinho is set to leave Man City at the end of the season, after telling friends that he does not expect to be handed another renewal. He is attracting interest from clubs in Brazil and the MLS.I'm gonna miss watching him make 23 fouls in a game without getting booked 💔 pic.twitter.com/onkEiayMeo— Footy Accumulators (@FootyAccums) December 4, 2020
According to Ives Galarcep, the Galaxy signed several Academy/GII players to HG contracts over the summer but never announced them As we wait for #LAGalaxy to hire a coach (Greg Vanney), perhaps Galaxy will get around to announcing homegrown signings of Jalen Neal, Marcus Ferkranus & Adam Saldana.I’m told they were signed in summer but LA never announced. Good prospects for next coach (Vanney) to develop— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) December 4, 2020
Three talented players on paper, so that's cool. But they are clearly not ready for MLS yet, so don't expect any of them to have an impact in 2021. Here is what I wrote about them after G2 season : https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/official-2020-la-galaxy-ii-season.2107741/page-5#post-39060674 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/official-2020-la-galaxy-ii-season.2107741/page-5#post-39070620
https://www.elfutbolero.us/mls/2020...n-and-takes-him-away-from-la-galaxy-3982.html Here's the latest on Pavon. I sounds like he is headed to the EPL.
“.. it is said that a Premier League club intended to sign Pavón. Todofichajes published the information, even though it was not said which team is the one chasing the forward.” That article is a rumor of a rumor.
I'd get Orjan Nyland if I was our GM. He is out of contract and needs a club. He was alright in the premier league. Reminds me of Guzan.
Next up is the Expansion Draft on Tuesday. List of the protected players will be released tomorrow. The Galaxy are in it and could lose one player at most. Rules are here : https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/11/11/2020-mls-expansion-draft-rules-procedures Summary : - we have to protect 12 players. - if one of our players gets picked, we will receive 50k in GAM. - if we want to keep a player even if he's out of contract (like Pavon, Corona or Insua), we have to protect him. DPs often have non-trade clauses and have to be protected, so don't expect Chicha to be unprotected and picked. - our HG players are automatically protected, so there is no risk to lose : Alvarez, Zubak, Dunbar, Perez and Lopez. In case you wonder, Araujo, DePuy and Koreniuk are NOT HG players. - we have to protect at least 3 internationals (who were last year : Gonzalez, Insua, Dos Santos, Chicharito, Yony, Pavon, Traore, Harvey).
Sorry to make a double post but I wanted to separate the official rules from what would be my personal protected list. No-brainers/have to be protected (5) : Pavon, Dos Santos, Chicharito, Araujo, Lletget. We have our 3 internationals. Useful players who could be picked (4) : Steres, Corona, Klinsmann, Vom Steeg. Dan and Joe are proven MLS players. Last two are two young keepers with good reputation, we seem to count on Vom Steeg so I could see him being protected (he was last year). Young and promising players but unknown at the MLS level (2) : DePuy and Koreniuk. Well, I don't say they are great (though I like them both), but they have more future than a lot of guys in our roster. Useful players not likely to get picked, don't necessarily protect them : Insua, Traore, Harvey (because of the international spot, none of them is irrepleacable by the way), Kljestan (because of his age). Bad players not likely to get picked : Bingham, Kitchen, Gonzalez, Feltscher, Yony, Cuello, Wild. Acosta was injured all year long but is also on that list if you get me. So 11 of the 12 are obvious to me : Pavon, Dos Santos, Chicharito, Araujo, Lletget, Steres, Corona, Klinsmann, Vom Steeg, DePuy, Koreniuk. I think Harvey is not likely to get picked (very unknown and would need to negotiate with his Panamanian club), so it's probably Insua vs. Traore. Traore is (was?) promising but was not protected last year and didn't get much attention this season, so I don't think there is a big risk to lose him, so I guess the club will protect Insua.
https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post...p-winning-columbus-crew-sc-roster-return-2021 midfielders Fatai Alashe, Emmanuel Boateng and Youness Mokhtar; along with forwards Jordan Hamilton and Krisztian Nemeth. Defender Waylon Francis, midfielder Hector Jimenez and forward Fanendo Adi are all out of contract. Depth? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We already have Koreniuk as depth at LW and he's more effective than Ema. Hector is a mediocre fullback (and he's already 32!), I'd take AJ or Rolf over him. And there is a rumor he's going to Austin. Adi is completely washed up, hasn't done much in three seasons, they hate him at Columbus. Nemeth would be a decent depth signing though.
What happened to Adi? Wasn't he the guy Cincy broke the bank for and he just suuuuuuucked. Great business by Portland getting rid of him to expansion Cincy. If I'm remembering all that right. I am getting up there.
Here's the Galaxy's unprotected list https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...raft-official-list-players-eligible-selection So, Traore over Insua and Klinsmann over Vom Steeg. I guess Skjelvik is still our property
And Kljestan over Corona. I could see Joe or Vom Steeg get picked, Austin doesn't have a lot of midfielders or keepers yet.
There are actually quite a few keepers in the unprotected lists. (e.g., Cody Cropper, Clemente Diop, Luis Robles (retiring?), Brian Rowe, Zach McMath). Austin could certainly pick up one in this draft.
I imagine salaries are involved. Kljestan is cheaper and more likely to be scooped up? Also Corona -due to years of service and Nat team play - may cost more than he’s worth? Just guessing here.
