There goes Japan's best chance, off the crossbar.

So sick of this. They always find a new way to lose.

What a massive dissappointment this is. Another youth world cup without Japan.

Meh I'm not very surprised to be honest.

Anyone who watched he U-17 should know why they lost.

This match basically summed up the problems with this generation. Great attacking potential, but not defensive stand outs or discipline.

Hopefully the next generation will be better. Fortunately we won't have to worry about S Korea knocking us out because they didn't even qualify for the AFC U-16 Championship.

I believe that until Japanese coaches are not capable to instill motivation and self-confidence into their players, JFA better hires foreign players from the U13 all the way to Zaccheroni. This defeat is pathetic...

I was discussing this with Matsu last night: how many good, international level coaches has Japan produced in these last 20 years? Maybe five or so...?

For how long our very promising youth players should be coached by guys who still play Meiji period soccer and can't get the kids to perform as they should?

    I told you.
It is ridiculous to have any expectations for Japan at this level until the JFA makes massive changes. Considering they have to overcome not only the strucural flaws of the soccer world, but of sports psychology in general, that are deeply embedded in Japan, it is pretty much hopeless.
We have to see the matches at this level as a way to showcase Japan's emerging individual attacking talent, and nothing more. At team level, the results will never be there.

Meiji football beat Spain ? Meiji football is such a beautiful passing game ? They played very well at this time ... Do you know this coach, his methods ? How can you be so sure it's his fault ? I blame him for benching Kawanami (unthinkable) and not subbing Ibusuki who could not play at the same pace as his comrades. But that's all I can say about him. Don't put all the blame on this guy, it's too easy.

I won't worry too much about the DF.

Just look at the DF from the last U-19 tournament.

    鎌田翔雅
    村松 大輔
    金井 貢史
    岡本 知剛
    吉田 勇樹
    薗田 淳
    大野 和成

How many of those players do you recognize today? For me the only that really stands out is Muramatsu, who's playing for the hopeless Bellmare. Sonoda is starting to get playing time, but still not a regular fixture in the Frontale line-up. Just goes to show that the DF are by no means a finished product. I can almost guarantee that probably only 1 DF from this year will play for the NT in the future, my bet Endo Wataru.

Of course the 2007 squad was pretty good with Uchida, Makino, and Yasuda.

When a youth representative is mentally so weak, who do you blame if not the guy who picked and (allegedly) trained the players?

Interesting facts, I think Miran Kabe got his first call, it seems we found a tall midfielder (Tomoki Taniguchi) and there is a zainichi named Kim Tae Gwi in the team. I don't think it's a consequence of Tadanari's latest achievement, but it's awesome if ethnic Korean start to chose Japan.

He was a regular with the U-16 and U-17 age group but got a bad injury just before the last Asia U-18 tournament and was out for a year, so thats why you havent seen his name in recent NT lineups.
