With the following lineup from Saturday:

    Thornton

    Brown, Curtin, Bocanegra, Perez

    Kovalenko, Gray, Marsh, Kovalenko

    Stoitchkov, Razov

Why are so dead set on throwing long balls down the field all day?

Was anyone else sick of seeing this all night long on Saturday against a defense that (in my opinon) wasn't and isn't the strongest in the world?

On one hand, we've got three pre-dominantly left-footed players on the left side of the field, and all they look to do is send the ball over the top.
    - Bocanegra
    - Perez
    - Stoitchkov

And this HAS to be why DMB lined up on the right side of the midfield, although that sure didn't seem to work for him at all.

But honestly, is long ball the best we can do with this group?

I think if we are going to clone somebody it shouldn't be Kovalenko, especially at Beasley's expense.

But seriously, I really have been missing the old style short pass/possession style soccer that we used to play. The field has a little to do with it, but they are playing the same on the road. The long ball needs to be set up, you can't just keep heaving balls into space and crossing your fingers all day. Any news on Dipsy?

In particular, why, during the New England game, was Hristo so dead set on kicking deep crosses that no human could reach. He was so ****ing off the mark with those crosses it was pathetic.

Isn't Peter supposed to be back? If he is, take out anyone of those four midfield guys `cept for Gray and Beasley.

The ball will be run on the ground and Hristo will be able to conserve his energy and save it for making deft feints and pin-point passes. When you get tired, your accuracy is one of the things that evaporates.

I would hope if he is able that he will at least take a couple of minutes. Playoffs are not that far away.

Peter certainly won't play 90 minutes in KC.

Grey out and Marsh stays in once St. Peter returns.

I think we need Marsh's defensive presense, experience and general poise down the streach.

You mean like the one Ante got on the end of and knocked home in New England? or the gimmie that hristo put on the foot of beasley but Beasley whiffed? Or the two fantastic blasts that the keeper stopped. Or the countless shots that were actually on the frame????? yeah all of those!?!?! Dude you need to look at the game again. He was our offense the last three games. Maybe if the other guys half his age would work there tail off like he did in the 80th minute of that game we would not have been in that situtation.

I noticed the Fire Insider did not list him on the injured roll call.

I noticed that too, which I think is a sign he will see at least a taste of action.

  14. I hate that guy
why must he do this to the team

  15. Re: Re: Re: Re: Offensive Strategy with our Current Lineup

he needs some game action before the playoffs
we don't need him getting back into it after the playoffs have started

    Lineup as of now:

    --------------Nikolic--------------------
Johnson Somebody Somebody Katai (until July)
    -------------Dax Bastian------------------
    Vincent Campbell Kappelhoff Polster
    GK to be named later

Offensive Strategy with Our Current Lineup?
    1) Boot the ball to Nikolic and pray?
    2) Run Bastian ragged until he gets injured and is out of the line-up by August.

I would imagine that Katai takes over Accam spot and Solignac stays on the right. Mostly because Solignac is better than Johnson.

I don't think Solignac is better than Johnson.
I don't think soft feet should be in the starting line up.
    Hence, not including him.
