One of the above articles says something I've been advocating for years. Our guys have to spend much more time training with clubs in Europe.

    Geez this is fun.

The NBA needs to get away from ESPN. It is killing the sport in this country. They would do much better on Fox, which would give basketball the respect it deserves.

Basketball must do a better job of reaching minorities, especially in the inner cities.

There's not enough scoring in basketball. They need to make the baskets bigger or the game will never catch on in this country.

I hope we get some decent friendlies lined up.

Why don't we have any good friendlies? All the other CONCACAB countries have good friendlies. No wonder we're not prepared.

They do. It's just in Sacremento now, after stops in... what, Cincinatti, Kansas City, Omaha, and Kansas City-Omaha. And I'm sure I left one out.

Anyway, you guys have had almost a week to figure out what's wrong with US hoops, and you haven't hit on it yet:

WE MUST HIRE A FOREIGN COACH RIGHT NOW!!!!!

The NBA playoff system is a joke. 16 teams? I cannot take a league seriously that has any more than 14 teams in the playoffs. And what's with this "first to 4" format? Home and away, aggregate points, with away points as the tiebreaker is the only way to be respected as a basketballing nation.

Yes, they need a single table and promotion and relegation. It's OK if they keep the two conferences separate, though. Top 3 teams in the Eastern Conference move up to the Western Conference, and the bottom 3 in the west go down to the Eastern Conference.

The biggest obstacle to USA men's basketball ever winning another world championship is not Argentina or Yugoslavia, but radical American feminists.

You bring up a good point.

Can US Men's Basketball ever succeed with Title IX? And with the irrational commitment of colleges and high schools to gridiron football?

Yeah, but David Stern is on crack if he thinks we can win a World Championship by 2010.

There is this 14 year old kid from Argentina who would be the cornerstone for our golden generation if we could only make him a citizen. He came over with his family after the economic crisis down there and now lives in Fla. He is the real deal.
