I kind of like the design but I’m not a big rodeo guy, and I have what I consider a healthy fear of rattlesnakes.
Maybe the Oakland A’s will become more iconic in absentia than they ever were while around, kind of like Tupac?
I found a 39" rattlesnake in my workshop back in May. My ears were a bit clogged up from an ear infection, so I thought the noise I was hearing was from a leak in a shop air compressor line. Then I noticed my cat very interested in something in a corner under a workbench. I grabbed the cat by the tail and yanked it back, and looking under there I saw a very big and angry rattlesnake. Since I had no way to capture it, and didn't want it to escape into the clutter of my shop, I shooed the cat away and grabbed a pellet gun, and then shot its head to pieces. The thing had 12 rattles on its tail. I bought several snake sticks to now safely grab any snake I may happen to find in a place I don't want one. Lucky only friendly gopher and kingsnakes since then!
What? I can leave the keys in my unlocked car at night, I dare you to do that where you live. And that is in the driveway, outside.
There's more to life than the ability to leave your car unlocked at night. It's just a button push on my fob. I don't mind. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like being able to walk to the grocery story and to ride my bike a few blocks to Ace.
Why would anyone want to do that? Do you not have pockets? Or a small bowl by the front door? My wallet/key bowl serves the secondary purpose of keeping away rattlesnakes... don't ask me how it works but I've never seen one!
Sorry, snakes have been up in those hills longer than your house and serve a vital role in the ecosystem. I've run into countless rattle snakes in our hikes in the hills by our house and they always, even when threatened, eventually slither away.
I have no problem with rattlesnakes in the hills near my house, but, I draw the line on rattlers that get in an area where my pets could be endangered. I know people who have lost dogs to rattlesnake bites, or have been nearly killed. I have a friend who was bitten walking out her back door onto her porch. That put her in the hospital for 2-3 days. I put up about 350' of snake fencing to keep my dogs safe, but, sometimes I have them outside the safe area. I am live and let live, except when it come to rattlers, scorpions, black widow spiders, ground squirrels, and gophers.
When I first moved in with my wife (to be) I always locked my vehicle and brought the keys in. My wife, who had already lived there for 17 years said there was nothing to worry about, just leave the keys in the vehicle. It took me about a year to finally do that. It's been nearly another three decades without incident. I suppose it could happen someday, but, much more likely to encounter rattlesnakes.
Certainly! It would be great to get up in the morning and take a stroll to the neighborhood coffee shop, but, I would still prefer to make a cup a coffee and walk out onto the back patio and see a 4 point buck in the nearby field, or a pair of bluebirds who took up residence in the nest box I put up.
BREAKING: Former USMNT midfielder Jermaine Jones has been hired as head coach of USL League One club Central Valley Fuego FC, per sources. It is Jones’ first club head coaching role.Reporting with @jeffrueter https://t.co/OhVyjZ41qC— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) October 27, 2023
I've been seeing the Fuego for many years - at least since the SJ Frogs days. Saw them twice this year vs the 'Mingos.
Former Fuego coach and Quakes WSL GK, John Spurgeon told me the Fresno Fuego had folded when Frank's USL Fresno FC team played. Nice to see them back but it's too bad they aren't playing at Chukchansi Park. In other news, nice to see Sac won on Friday, in front of 10,619 fans.... Yes, I think the current club has no official connection to the old amateur team other than reviving the name
