But it doesn't explain why most of the posters are reporting low digits in each 1000 block.

I still think they're skipping numbers after so many arrive.

The exception would be for the FedEx packages due to the use of last names for orders.

I got an email from someone - their conf. was 306x - not below 4 or 5... if we are really talking about 8000 tickets requested, and we only have like 100 orders (max!) collected here, we are missing out on a lot of orders we dont know about.

    But it is still odd

The thing is everyone is leaving off the last digits. For all we know the last digit could signify a constant or binary meaning perhaps that total purchasors might be 900, not 9000. I wish it to be so at least.

    My last digit is 0.

Hi all. I didn't know this site existed until Monday when a friend at work heard me complaining about trying to fax in my application and told me about it. I've been lurking since then. I'm a more casual fan than a lot of others here, but I still enjoy soccer. From what I can tell, BS seems to be an excellent group.

Fax completed at 9:19 am CST on Tue 12/13. Confirmation number is 6163 and email was received yesterday at 8:15 pm CST (although I didn't see it until a few minutes ago). I ordered 2 tickets for both the Czech Republic and Italy games.

Why there are gaps in the faxes and not in the Fedexed/UPS batches:

Who would've thought to Fedex their application to come in on Tuesday if the lines were open Monday?

    BSers... thats who.

As you can see, there are gaps in the faxes, but the fax numbers also go from about 1000 to 7000. The Fedex numbers all seem to be at the same time, everyone is talking about the same truck, etc.

Word went out on Monday that the fax machines were broken. How did this word get out? BigSoccer.

So all the BSers who had been having trouble decided to go to Fedex.

Thats why we see so many of those together, and we are missing a lot of those "thousands" (quote from USSF) that faxed on Monday.

Well it seems to me if a 9:19 am fax was number 6163, that it is unlikely that more than 6,000 ticket orders (7,000-1,000) would have been received before the overnight orders came in. The overnight orders appear to be between 8,000 and 9,500, for a total of about 1,500 ticket orders. So a total of 7,500 ticket orders seems a reasonable guess. Making the extreme assumption of no ticket orders beyond the first round, this comes out to 2,500 per first round match. Leaves me guardedly optimistic.

Everytime I see that long list I freak out and think '' theres no way ima get tickets . '' Thats only 37 numbers , at a maximum of 4 tickets a game , that's only 148 match tickets to one game , out of like 2500-3000.... I just wonder how many people outside of BS applied ..?

Just to keep this insanity going-

Our group sent 3 separate applications in the same Fed Ex envelope that got there at 7:09am Tues. The numbers are 830x, 832x, and 883x. We requested Cat 3. 830x requested 2 tix to all 3 1st round games. 832x requested 4 tix to the same games. And 883x was for 3 tix to the first round games PLUS 1 for the Round of 16.

I also know of someone whose fax arrived after midnight on Tues am. They were assigned 101xx.

The only pattern is that a fax on Mon resulted in a confirmation number from 1xxx to 6xxx. Fed Ex and UPS on Tues am were 8xxx to 9xxx. Faxes on Tues were 10xxx. Orders received Wed were 20xxx. Those thurs 30xxx?

I still wonder if the second digit corresponds to the category tickets you ordered. A 3 for Cat 3, the 8 because the application included tickets beyond the 1st rd. Adding to the alphabetical hypothesis, our applicants with 830x and 832x both have last names that begin with D. The 8836 starts with M.

However, these numbers have absolutely nothing to do with the number of applications or the number of tickets requested. The first number only identifies when your order was sent.

Let's hope we hear soon that we're all getting tickets.
