In my case, it didn't matter. I had to stop faxing in order to get it to the FEDEX in time for morning delivery. That is what I am upset about--the seeming Catch-22. I could have not sent the FEDEX, and continued to try the fax, with the risk of not getting through, which would have screwed me big time, as I would have been sitting at my desk on Tuesday morning with the application in my hand. Instead, I took a different kind of gamble, and sent it in by FEDEX. And don't forget, at no time was it clear that they would continue to accept faxes after business hours.
That would be Taylor Aldridge or username " taylor ". Right when he posted that the USSF said to stop Faxing and FedEx, I believed it , but within an hour of that, Fax's started going through. This whole thing smells like a rotten can of tuna.

By the way, someone is saying in the other thread that he fedexed his in, and it arrive at 9:34, and he has gotten a confirmation number already. (30XX)
Thats what I think both of us mentioned in another thread- are they going to account for Fedexed applications? Like look at the time it was stamped? If his Fedex arrived at 9:34am the next morning, its likely it was stamped at maybe 3-4pm? Which would fit with the trend... and thus give hope to the Fedexers
I've come to the conclusion that only one thing is absolutely for certain here: No matter how they slice this, USSF is going to royally screw/piss off a decent chunk of hardcore fans. A lottery might not have been more in my favor (who knows?), but it would have been a lot easier to swallow than whatever arbitrary measure they end up using. At least it would have been, at least superficially, pure random chance, rather than a crazy race where no one is quite sure of the rules.
I agree 100% on the lottery. Especially when you look at the small numbers involved... Someone said US soccer has an 8% allocation. That would be 3,500 tickets for the Czech Rep. game (accroding to FIFA, "purchasable ticket capacity" is 43,920 at the G. stadium for group games), 2,900 for the Italy game and 2,500 for the Ghana game. If you figure an average of 3.5 tickets per customer, that's 1,000 requests filled for the Czech Rep. game and even less for Italy and Ghana... Why even say you'll accept Fed Ex when there's a good chance most of the available tickets will be gone via the fax sale by the time the first overnight mail can arrive. Bogus.
Just to add to the confusion, I UPS'ed my application in (Delivered at 9:42 on Tuesday) and *just* received a confirmation number of 20xx.

The UPS and Fedex numbers are BS; look at the poster/prankster on both occasions; he/she/it has less than 10 posts
Just because I haven't posted here before doesn't mean I'm a prankster! I joined back in 2003 and have enjoyed lurking around the forums for a while. I don't really see what I'd stand to gain by giving you a BS confirmation number (unlike sending out a "USSF isn't accepting any more faxes!" message ).

This is nuts. I am consumed by this. Maybe because this trip is a bachelor party of sorts for me. Gotta get these tix! Go 9:43 fedexers!
If so (and I have no reason to think this is true), this is more BullSh|t from USSF. They should have told us that was going to be the case, I would have had mine time-stamped at 12:00:01 on Monday and not stood by the damn fax machine for 6 hours on Monday... Just prematurely reacting, that's all...
I FedExed my forms and they arrived at 9:43am Tuesday and I just got an email from the USSF with a confirmation number of 80xx.
I know everyone is hung up on the "number of fax machines" but I spoke to someone at USSF and they told me all the faxes were recieved by computer - think about it. You can "fax" from your computer - you can also receive a "fax" on your computer. They said they were printing them out so any rumors of broken faxes, nightmares of fax machines without paper, etc... didn't happen. On the other hand, I can only think that whoever is out there in America that sent in their order but does not post on Bigsoccer must be in a much happier place than all of us.
7:09 FedEx F. Furtal..... Nothing yet. It's probably on the bottom of the pile. That's why I paid $60 to get it there by 8:00. yup. That was money well spent.
I was also at the 9:43 delivery but i have gotten no confirmation yet ? I hope I get it soon .. I'm a nervous wreck!
First off, thanks to everyone on this board for all the info. My first week here and I'm quite impressed. I'm a madfaxer who after hours of attempts ended up FedExing. Mine arrived at 7:09 and signed by Furtal. I just got a confirmation of 805X . What upsets me is that I see people who's FedEx's arrived at 9amish with lower numbers. Hmmmm. But--all is probably not lost. Note that all the numbers are X0XX. So it does not appear they are using the second digit. That means for me in the 805X range there are 750 people in front of me. Assuming all bought 4 tickets, 750x4=3000. So I should be in the ballpark for tickets. Nonetheless, given how FUBAR this whole process is, the only fair thing to do is to take all orders received on Monday or Tuesday and put them in a lottery. Any thoughts?
