Lichaj played earlier in a 3-0 Loss to Swansea City. Guzan: Starts on Goal for 'Ull; 0-0 in the 60th Whitbread: Starts for Promotion chasing Norwich City, who are up 2-0 in the 60th over Barnsley. Seb Hines: Starts for 'Boro vs league leaders QPR, 2-0 down in the 60th EJ: On the bench for PNE, 1-1 in the 61st. Conor Doyle: On the bench for Derby, they lead 1-0 over Sheff. united in the 62nd.
EJ is has apparently come on from PNEFC matchtracker "Johnson helped in the build up, linking up well with Hume, and the on rushing Nicholson pulls the trigger, with his shot going straight to Grant. This is better from North End"
Guzan now down 1-0 EJ down 2-1 PNEFC: "Johnson has just taken on two defenders and shot. The American has won a corner for PNEFC."
Hull finished 0-2 to Cardiff, goals didn't sound like they were Guzan's fault but haven't seen them yet to confirm. PNE lose 1-2 to Burney with EJ coming in in the 69th but unable to find the back of the net.
I saw a post on a Villa forum suggesting that the second goal in the Hull match was a "howler" from Brad.
I kind of feel bad for EJ. You think blind luck would've bagged him at least a couple of more goals during all his time in England.
Well this was the last game under his existing loan deal. After several clean sheets it would be too bad for him to have to return to AV on that note. There is talk of his loan spell being extended though (prior to this match).
Goals are here. Guzan probably should've stopped the second one, but I don't think you could call it a howler. That was one hell of a volley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mlwEQwvhSs4
The second goal may not have been a howler, but at the same time I wouldn't call it "one hell of a volley". Brad should have saved it. That near post effort wasn't struck terribly fiercely...it certainly wasn't, say, Van Persie against Barca...
BBC voiceover in the match highlights as EJ beats a couple of defenders and has a shot deflected wide: "Phil Brown brought on Eddie Johnson in the second half, but despite the American's silky skills, there was no way back for Preston North End."
