Some really great ones here. "Of course, we know the history and the story, and we respect that and them." -Nowak WHAT?! Sacrilege!
"Do you know what separates the good teams from the great teams? Trophies! Achievements! All those little things that come at the end."
Nowak says the right things and lately he has been getting the results..Im a beilever He is the kind of general we need, IMO..
I agree with you, it's also nice having the one coach in the league that can still take on most of the players in the league.
I love this first quote "We never change our approach. It's not really a different format, because you've got to win the game, then you go into the second game and you want to win that one, too. "
What a terrific message! Are D.C. United at the peak of their performance for the year? "As I've said all season long, I believe in work. I don't believe in talking about if we're good or bad. It's that kind of stuff I cannot accept. Have they peaked yet? I don't think so. I still feel like there are a lot of things that can be better. It's not like you reach the playoffs and you've done anything. We've done nothing yet! Alright? Do you know what separates the good teams from the great teams? Trophies! Achievements! All those little things that come at the end." There are absolutely no guarantees, of course, but I feel better about DCU this year than I have in the last 5 years.
I wholeheartedly agree. With all the teams so close on talent and performance in this league, being a good coach can really make the difference to a team. He has us winning--the most important thing--and he's doing it with style. We're playing very aggressive and beautiful attacking soccer. The players seem to be happy and respect his authority and wisdom. Nowak himself says the right things--although nobody was a colorful as Hudson--and our players seem to be developing. Watching the maturation of Gros and Adu has been impressive. I had nervously high hopes when Nowak came here that he would turn this team into 11 Piotr Nowaks. I think he's doing just that, and I couldn't be happier. I'm dang happy to have Piotr Nowak as DC United's coach. On a related note, I'm disappointed for our previous coaching prospect Dave Sarachan. His losses (arrived post-Bocanegra, then lost DaMarcus, Razov's problematic season, etc.) have been great and I was really pulling for them to beat the Revs for that last spot. -Digital
