It looks as if Solano will be returning. IMO, that's when things started going south under Robson when he sent Nobby packing to Viller.
Nobby is great, can't wait to see him back in stripes! I don't think Villa was where he belonged, as far as I'm concerned, he was a major driving force behind Newcastle's high finish a few years ago, and I hope he's welcomed as a returning hero in his first game back.
wtf, It's amazing that Souness is able to do this. I think that it was probably the luque signing that caused all this.
The only downer is he has two games on a suspension yet to serve. Otherwise, this signing caps off a stellar week on the transfer front, though not adding a defender still concerns me.
Awesome! He was one of my favorite Toon players and to see him return would be great. Hope he's still got the touch to help us get back in the winning swing of things.
...Our defense is what scares me the most. But our midfield and strike force is now at least in the starter spots top half of the table at least. Maybe if we can just bowl teams over with great fluid offense we can hold out until the transfer window and sign a few good defenders.
Unfortunetly, I think the kitty is all but depleted. I'd be surprised if we got a defender. We've already spent more than any Premiership club not named Chelsea this offseason .
it's ironic that the game he's back for is against Portsmouth, where he was shown the red card in the first place
check out this nobby video, brings a tear to my eye http://www.petes-place.info/Football/NUFC/Pedro/Videos/Forever Nobby.wmv
He turned down Liverpool for us because of his love for our club, and when Owen signed the fans were chanting Solano's name. We're happy the chairman and coach listened. Solano is one us -------------------------------------------------------------- "I'd already given the Newcastle people my word but I was never going to turn down the chance to go back there, even for a great club like Liverpool," said Solano. "Newcastle is the club I have always loved. It has a place in my heart and it's a great feeling to be back. It's as if I was never away. "I was watching the Michael Owen signing and heard what the fans were singing about me. "That was a very special moment for me but they must understand I love them, too."
He didn't play this past week. And they have been eliminated, so I think it's safe that he's not missing the games in October. Thx, Jay!
hey guys-- i don't know what the fuss is all about... nobby is 31, peru is eliminated from WC contention and the national coach, although currently under fire, has promised to look at youngsters for WC2010... so jay's right. nobby may only return for a farewell match of some sorts... best of luck this year... salud (cheers)
Nobby apparently only will miss one game for NUFC. According to Sky Sports, the suspension he got with Villa counts for three Villa games, and doesn't carry over to NUFC games. He already served one, the second will be this weekend, and the third next weekend. However, since Villa play their game next week on Saturday, and NUFC play Blackburn on Sunday, Nobby will be available for selection, it appears.
