Yes, it's a jam packed weekend. World Cup, MLS, MLB, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, NASCAR, US Open etc.. I'm still rather disappointed the match wasn't moved to Sunday so the long awaited stadium christening could be witnessed. HDNet is showing a match that day, too bad it couldn't have been for a jam packed shining new jewel of American Soccer.
FSN New England has it listed on their schedule. http://msn.foxsports.com/tv/schedule?regionCategoryId=289&date=2006-06-11&submit_button=Submit
Don't forget that they are limiting the crowd size for this game. Someone mentioned only 11k or so. The full blown opener won't be for a couple of weeks yet. Andy
Um, the game is on Sunday. At 6pm Central time, as a matter of fact. The game on the 25th is the grand opening and that one will be on TV, you won't miss much by not seeing this weekend's game.
The crowd will be Fire season ticket holders (who were not allowed to purchase extra tickets, by the way) and residents of Bridgeview. I have heard anywhere from 10,000 to 12,000 for the ticket number.
I did not know that... Hopefully the real observance of the "Home Opener" will be special, well promoted and televised.
According to MLSNET, the first Fire home game at Bridgeview to be on TV (espn2) will be the July 15th game against the hoops. As far as MLS on TV goes, the next month or so after this LA/Chivas match will be pretty slim pickings unless you have DK or MLSTV. Of course the world cup is on... so its a fair enough trade I guess.
i heard that toyota is going to park some of there '07 models in the stage area during televised games
The game is currently not on the schedule on the Indemand website nor does it show up on my on-screen DVR guide. If the game is being shown by FSNE, then I expect the game to be added to the schedule later in the week. Stay tuned...
Any chance this will soon be called the Firebox? Any other nicknames? Fireplace is stupid... Firehouse I guess works... Firepit?
Revs announcer, Brad Feldman, said on "In the Net" (found on the rev's site) that the game will be televised in New England only. If he went out of his way to mention that, it probably isn't going to be on Direct Kick. I'd start writing to MLS now.
If that's true, then that makes the pantheon of All-Time Stupid MLS Decisions. And it would almost certainly the fault of the dimwit that's now running the Fire.
what is toyota park? i see some chicago people. is that the name of the bridgewater stadium? Man if so that's just crap. Not as bad as pizza hut park but i kinda liked Bridge uh...bridgeview. that's right bridgeview. That said I'm unlikey to pay attention to mls for a while.
