But if Besky has money issues, it's all on them to get him someplace. He's got a contract (assuming he can enforce, I suppose.) But if Besiktas need to get his pay off the books, they need to help move him. There's no smart business reason to do this unless you had a plan to move him, or don't care about paying him to not play.
None of that makes any sense for MLS teams. They get what out of it, for 1+ month, a sizable salary, and playing him over their long-term players? He'd be a ringer/mercenary, so that's a bad look to their own players at minimum, if not league & fans. But he doesn't come w/ the recent performance of a ringer to be clearly better than what they have. He's not even fat Higuain. And I don't see how it helps to eat the salary & then probably sell him for less to a comparable league to MLS, or worse, where he isn't one of their marketable internationals. I think the ball is in Boyd's court whether he wants to stay in Europe while just training for the next few months or move to MLS now. Not that either of these are ideal options. But MLS more palatable given his past season & his current circumstance.
I'd take him in New York in a heartbeat. He might not be Higuain, but he's better than Florian Valot and Jared Stroud.
on a brief/mercenary loan, factoring in the baggage that could come with? Anyway, Valot isn't half bad. And the Caden Clark hg signing could happen at any pt.
How much would you think is a decent loan fee (including wage share) for the rest of the regular season and playoffs? At this point you might figure Besiktas would take any kind of financial relief, so you might as well shoot them an offer around $100k all-in and see if they bite. Or maybe a loan with a low option to buy, betting on the possibility of reselling Boyd in the winter or next summer.
Besiktas manager Sergen Yalcin on Turkish TV: "Tyler Boyd is also a very professional player, but his qualities are manageable. Actually, I'm happy with him, but at this stage it was the best decision to weed him out." #USMNT— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) November 19, 2020
wild guess: because of the imposed rule of foreigner limits that hit recently....it was the best move for tyler to be one of those players even though the manager is happy with him. (so, basically, the coach is explaining why he was one of the players that had to sit out this stretch) Alternative interpretation: he gone!
"I don't have any problems with him as a player, neither personal nor professional, but the regulations mean I can't play him at the moment and that's the only reason why I don't. Naturally, we're open to offers from interested clubs when the window opens."
Some good #USMNT related news: Turkish outlets have stated that Tyler Boyd is expected to be re-added to Besiktas roster for the second half of the Super Lig season.— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) December 7, 2020
With Soto being in camp right now im a bit surprised Gregg didn't try to get Boyd into the December camp, or maybe he did and we didn't hear about it
Boyd plays a position where we are stacked. Soto is getting special consideration because the #9 options are a bit limited.
I just learned ("bothered to find out") that Turkish Super Lig is on BeIn Sports, and BeInSportsExtra appears to be freely available. So get Boyd on the pitch!
It was his birthday recently: Happy birthday to Tyler Boyd, who turns 2️⃣6⃣ today! 🎂#FlyHigh pic.twitter.com/HGSLQs8X40— Beşiktaş EN (@BesiktasEnglish) December 30, 2020
News out of Turkey; Tyler Boyd continues to train with Besiktas, but a decision hasn’t been made on whether or not he will stay with first team for second half of season. #USMNT https://t.co/BNMsdYEl54— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) January 5, 2021
Continuing my role as Tyler Boyd reporter, I report that he is not in the team for their first game of 2021. 📄 Çaykur Rizespor maçı ilk 11'imiz. 🦅#BJKvRİZ | #ArmandaSaklı pic.twitter.com/Q2GNkLPs9s— Beşiktaş JK (@Besiktas) January 6, 2021
A new rule was approved in the 🇹🇷 league to allow 16 foreign players instead of 14 & Tyler Boyd per request of the coach , will be the first player to return to Besiktas https://t.co/T7pSemMfjO— Edgar Moreno 🇺🇸🇲🇽 (@ConcacafEdgar) January 14, 2021 Eligible to play again, although I had wished he wouldve left
I don't think they've missed him, they're #1 on the table and have 10 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie in the league since Boyd stopped playing.
Besiktas' Tyler Boyd will join Turkish side Sivasspor on loan for the rest of the season, several outlets reported Sunday. #USMNT https://t.co/SXKzSpYLZA— SBI Soccer (@SBISoccer) January 31, 2021
