Indeed, he did outscore R9 in season 97/98.

Actually R9 scored more goals than Del Piero in Serie a. They were very equal in league though.

Tsubasa-Misaki the golden combined. I often call Messi-Neymar like that when their hair were blonde

Cries too damn much . Too much drama. Can’t wait for Vinicius Jr. to take over. Hopefully he can work as a winger instead of trying to be like Neymar and roam through the middle nowadays .

All the best wide forwards now start wide but drifts inside anyway, right?

Not his fault that Tuchel plays him in the no.10 role is it?

He never had a chance to surpassed Pele success with Brazil but I still think he will surpass Pele as Brazil alltime leading scorer.

I also think the ESPN FC pundits are terrible and not the best source of opinions especially when it comes to Neymar.

Vinicius Jr will be an all time great in the near future. Hell, he will be greater than Mbappe.

I didn't know this. Why was this? Are Brazilians that obsessed with the no.10 role? All the best players now play the inside-forward role, even the upcoming ones like Mbappe.

The hype is UNREAL. I haven't seen enough of him at all. How would you describe him? What makes his talent so special? Which player does he most resemble?

Vinicius is ambitious and determined version of Neymar. He’s pretty good dribbler with fantastic pace and probably a clutch player. I think he needs to work on his finishing though.

Delete this thread lmfao. The question should be whether Vinicius Jr will surpass Pele?

Real Madrid wouldn’t need Hazard if Vinicius starts showcasing GOAT tier potential. This dude plays with full confidence and did well in his first El Clasico despite his poor finishing. If Mbappe or Dembele wants to win the Ballon, Vinicius is most likely an obstacle for them.

I don't know for sure ... but it seems obvious to me that's one of the reasons he went. I doubt Neymar went to PSG to be told by a coach to change his position against his will. At least no one that wasn't a legend as a player or a coach.

Too soon to tell but he has potential. If he develops his finishing he should be great. He looks more direct than Neymar.

You can see when Vinicius plays that he is figuring things out, downloads information very quickly. He is great at going from little mistakes to creating a goal opportunity the next time around. He makes adjustments instead of not trying again.

Looks like he is only going to surpass Pelé as the record holder of NT goals. But if he deliver 2 great seasons without injuries, I think he could elevate his name as a top 3-5 brazilian footballer. He is an annoying character sometimes, but the rare talent is still there.

Top 5 is reserved for brazilians who led their country to WC victory
    Pele
    Garrincha
    R9
    Romario
    Didi
Zico is the only exception(non WC winner)but frankly neymar isnt of his class(at all)

With 2-3 more seasons neymar can potentially lead the group of Rivaldo/ronaldinho/falcao as top 40-50 all time
Anything more requires era defining performances at CL or WC level

I agree, Zico is arguably a class above Neymar. Both technically and as an athlete, overall. And especially when Zico's play-making abilities are compared. And this comes from a Neymar fan, says much don't it?

Wasn't it for his lack of trophies with NT (not his fault), he would certainly be on pair with Pele. Bad luck with Santana's team in WC82 got do it. Brazilian fans will never forgive that team. Hence why Zico, key member of that team, still suffers (unfairly) greatly when matched against the other top 5 you listed.

Agree with this mostly except maybe zicos athletic superiority
Didnt he take steroids in the mid 70s to compensate for his slight frame(even remember watching in the zico movie recently he was almost rejected by flamengo for being small and physically weak)

Technically no doubt whatsoever zico was a cut above neymar (who up until now is more flash than substance)
