Fenerbahce president gets 6 years in prison over match-fixing.

A Turkish court on Monday convicted and sentenced Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim to 6 years and 3 months in prison on match-fixing charges along with several other club officials.

The court ruling came one year after police rounded up dozens of suspects implicated in the scandal and prosecutors eventually charged 93 individuals, including Yildirim. Fenerbahce was barred from last season's Champions League as a result of the investigation.
UEFA said last week that Fenerbahce was eligible to participate in next season's competition, pending a final desicion by the UEFA disciplinary board.

Match-fixing scandals have tarnished leagues in Turkey, Italy, Israel, Finland and Greecev last year despite UEFA spending millions of euros(dollars) to monitor betting and investigate cases in which players and referees were allegedly bribed.

The court on Monday found Yildirim-who was among the last four suspects still in jail-guilty of rigging six games and offering incentive payments to players and or club officials. Yildirim,who has denied any wrongdoing, was accused of match-fixing and establishing a crime ring according to the indictment, which includes records of wiretapped conversations between the suspects who allegedly exchanged encoded messages.

However, the court released Yildirim and three other suspects after considering the time they have already spent in jail over the past year. Turkish law allows the court to free suspects after they serve a certain portion of their sentences. Yildirim and others were jailed one year ago.

Yildirim and other defendants were expected to appeal the verdict. They might return to prison to serve the remainder of theur sentence if an appeals court upholds their convictions.

The court said Yildirim, who was recently re-elected as president, can no longer serve as a club official or even watch sporting events at stadiums but both sanctions require approval by the appeals court to go into effect. Yildirim was also ordered to pay a fine of $729,000.

In December, Turkey's Parliment approved a sharp reduction in prison terms for match-fixing and hooliganism, a move that led to lighter sentences for any suspects found guilty in the match-fixing scandal.

After the trial, a few thousands of Fenerbahce fans gathered outside Istanbul's Metris prison to celebrate Yildirim's release, waving yellow and blue Fenerbahce flags and chanting slogans in support of their president.

The court also convicted several officials from BEsiktas, Eskisehirspor, Sivasspor. Giresunspor and Diyarbakirspor. Among them were former Giresunspor Preesident Olgun Peker who was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison and Fenerbahce official Ilhan Yuksel Eksioglu, who received a 15-month sentence. Peker and Eksioglu were also ordered to be released from prison.

Monday's ruling came two months after the Turkishfootball federation cleared all 16 Turkish teams of involment in the alleged match-fixing scandal on grounds that there was no evidence that alleged attempts to fix games had altered the course of 22 matches tained by the allegations.

The federation had banned striker Ibrahim Akin of Istanbul Vuyuksehir Belediyespor for three years for allegedly fixing the result of a game when his team lost to Fenerbahce 2-0 on May 1, 2011 and goal keeper Serdar Kulbilge of Genclerbirligi for two years for allegedly attempting to fix the result of a game that Fenerbahce won 4-2.

Fenerbahce went unbeaten through the second half second half of the season that year and beat Trabzonspor to the title on goal difference. Fenerbahce shares on Istanbul's main stock exchange dropped by around 22 per cent over the past year.

UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said the status of Fenerbahce - which finished second in May to qualify for this season's competition - could still change. UEFA disciplinary inspectors are studying files including Turkish Football Federation desicions which cleared the club's entry.
''Its's a complicated case and our disciplinary bodies are going through the procedure,''
Infantino told The Associated Press after the draw. ''Its a big dossier. It's literally thousands of pages of work.''
The officials from the Turkish club declined to comment Friday.

Today twitter news ,rumours etc that i read,it says; FIFA enter the case too.

Since the case start in Turkey. Turkey FA covered and pushed everything under the carpet till now. But hopefuly FIFA will react quick in this case against to the Turkish FA.

They could BAN Turkey FA ... thats one of the possible prediction if Turkey FA dont follow UEFA's command(actualy UEFA already too late to act in match-fixing of these clubs). Before the CL group games start ,somesays ; Clubs ie, Fenerbahce ,Besiktas,Sivasspor probable will get pk from UEFA. in the sidenote; If Turkey FA not pk of these clubs(ie;sendto the low division,or minus points), Its sure FIFA will act against the Turkey FA.

Since the conclusion of last season's championship, the Turkish Football Federation(TFF) has opened a vast investigation into alleged match-fixing and betting on matches played in the Turkish national championship. These cases are currently pending in front of the TFF's Disciplinary Committee.
Furthermore, following the 'Bochum case', the TFF's Disciplinary Committee and Appeal Committee found numerous indiviuals, including amateur and professional players, coaches, club and match officials guilty, ipmosing a range of sanctions from a one year suspension to a lifetime ban.

At present, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has already extended to have worldwide effect 24 sanctions for match-fixing and betting as follows: six lifetime bans;four bans of three years; two bans of two-and-a-half-years: sixbans of two years: and six further bans of one year.

how about thistrabzonspor fans opened this ' in the uefa europe league quilify game. duo to uefa's slow reaction against Fenerbahce's match-fixing case) . Trabzonspor club waithing their Championship Title which is Fenerbahce winned by match-fixing, according to Turkish Judge official desicion.
Yet no action from UEFA disciplinary commutiy or President.

Today there were a huge talk in the twitter and newspepper sites, that that Trabzonspor
send a fax pepper(sue uefa officials,turkish fa, turkish fa disciplinary etc) to the Court of Swiss(?) for court sue against to UEFA Officials. ie; Platini,Senez Erzik etc. aswell Turkish Fa officials.

An they send same pepper about court (sue) against uefa , in the Court of Arbitration for Sport

Over all:

Trabzonspor want fair judge by UEFA at the first place.
If not, Trabzonspor willing to sue to the court for UEFA officials and Turkish FA officials.
Therefor They send pepper about it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport , and Swiss Court Judge.

Why UEFA too slow ?
Trabzonspor fans and their media thinking(just look at twitter about it) UEFA and UEFA's one of main sponsor Turkish company ; Yapi Kredi Bank. They says UEFA dont pk Fenerbahce duo to this sponsporship.
Whether this is just a silly rumour or just talk by Trabzonspor people or neutral Turkish football fans....

As a football fan, I dont know what to say about all these talk...

I just hope to best for the Football. A Clean Football . A Fair Play One.
