On Nov. 9th approximately 20 members of Real Salt Lake’s first official supporter’s club, the Loyalists, met with Trey Fitz-Gerald, the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for RSL. He discussed upcoming events and decisions about the team and answered Loyalists’ questions for about 45 minutes. Here is a summary of what he discussed. For the complete article, please go to www.TheLoyalists.com where the article will be available soon. Fitz-Gerald reiterated that the club is working on a relationship with Real Madrid. He added that Dave Checketts has been conducting close discussions with Madrid since the Oct. 9th event, working more on the details. However, he refused to go into detail, stating that he would prefer to defer to Dave Checketts on that subject. He did say that Salt Lake City fans will hopefully see Real Madrid in town within the next few years. One possibility might be to see them in town around the time the new stadium is opened. He also stated that some possibilities for the relationship might include spring training in Madrid and some connections for player development.
