I just want to get the word out early for all you baseball fans, the Astros will be playing the Mets at Shea the same weekend as Dynamo @ RBNY. Sounds double the reason to visit the big apple to me.
Indeed. I may do this one. I just checked and you can get decent rates on Continental IAH-EWR right now. Hmmm.
It's cheaper at LaGuardia - nonstop. I looked up Friday AM - Sunday PM $320.50 w/ tax Edited to add: Still considering it, but if Anderson goes and we get on the same flight, it'll lessen the costs (if share a hotel). I would still want to do the Mets on Saturday w/ Art though. Have to ask if I can get off Friday and/or leave early if I can't. If not the Saturday early flight w/ the Mets and then Saturday afternoon w/ Dynamo and leave after the game isn't bad either. I'll ask el padre if interested too.
Yeah, the one I found for IAH/EWR was $332 (incl. taxes), but I'd want to fly back on Sunday night and am thinking that it may be easier from the stadium to get to EWR than LGA.
Is that with a car rental? I was trying to avoid that. Bad experiences w/ me/secaucus/car/lincoln tunnel/manhattan/traffic/rainy/hungry/traffic/angry/returned to hotel/missed mets game
If Art could pick you guys up-it may be cheaper to go SW to MacArthur and brave the LIE-I used to pick up some real deals doing it that way of course my NY friends thought I was on crack to fly into LI-but I am a cheap bastard good luck and beware of the NJSEA
Anderson & I bought tickets. Sat 6:30am CO89 Sun 8:15pm CO1611 I'll just have to trouble Art for drop-off at the airport. Gotta love karma from Denver
11am. I'm still trying to figure out the best hotel given that we don't want to rent a car and will be easy to get to hotel from airport and then to get on the subways. Manhattan would be good for Saturday, but then it would be difficult for Sunday. New Jersey would be the easiest as we will have ample time to get to Shea, but we'll be in a time crunch for Giant Stadium since the game starts at 2.
Looked at the mass transit options. We could take the train to Secaucus junction, checking into the sheraton meadowlands at that stop, and then travel from that station to penn station using the same train. From there, the subway to Shea. for sunday, we can then take a cab.walk. or shuttle to the stadium.
A pickup will be best so we can help get tailgate supplies and so we can put bags in your car. We'll be in the: Sheraton Meadowlands 2 Meadowlands Plaza East Rutherford, NJ 07073.
Looks like 113-114 or117 might be the best place. Parking Lot Map The ESC tailgate in 16A in front of Gate C, so which lot?
Has anyone purchased tickets yet? It might be a good idea to get the 4-pack for $90 ($22.50/each plus ticketmaster surcharge ($7)), additional tickets are $22 (+$7). You also get a Red-bulls shirt as a souvenir. 1.877.RBSOCCER. The next jump in prices are $30. When I did a search with Ticketmaster I was getting Sec 117 Row 35
I think day of game you can get cheapos for $16. At least that was the case last season. Although if that is not the case then check the TA boards for some other ideas I have.
