There is a scene in the new movie where homer is searching for an epiphany, and one of his spoken truths was: 'america will never embrace soccer'

good or bad - i dont know

Inuit ‘Boob lady’ (within Homer’s dream/trip sequence): Unless you have an epiphany, you will spend the remainder of your days alone…
Homer: Oooh, Epihanyepiphanyepiphany… Bananas are a great source of potassium! …America will never embrace soccer..? More than two shakes and it’s playing with yourself?

Sorry, but I'll defend the Simpsons, especially Homer, til the day I die. Transformer Bots be damned.

Leave Simpson alone. By and large they've yet to be proven wrong on that subject. Besides, look at the third item Homer stated....

No I just like Homer more than soccer. Homer makes me laugh consistantly for 18 years, MLS hasn't made me laugh lately.

Fellas, you gotta realize something. Remember, he DID get slapped for making that comment, as if those trees were saying Americans WILL embrace soccer.

It was necessary if you're a completely humorless twat with a major inferiority complex, like the thread starter.

So was the movie good or not?
I was planning on viewing it during the weekend so i'd appreciate your views if its worth my $9.50.
Or if i should just wait till it comes out on dvd and rent it at blockbuster for around $4.

That's ok guys. Homer doesn't particularly like baseball either. Once they stopped selling beer at the Isotopes Stadium, Homer said "Hey, I never realized how boring this is?" Ha ha ha.

NOTE: Can we add a spoiler alert to the title of this thread!

I think the trees were slapping him for stating the obvious and not making a real revelation. Such as the bananas and potassium comment, a lot of people know that. Same for soccer.

There have been at least two episodes featuring soccer. One was the soccer riot one the other was when Bart played and Homer forgot to pick him up from practice.

Ronaldo also guest-starred in an episode last season where Homer refs Lisa's match and cracks down on diving! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marge_Gamer

Groening likes soccer, I see numerous plugs in the shows. The funny thing about that quote it's a homerism. He's usually wrong about things like that...hence...it's saying America will embrace soccer...
