MLS has the new roster rules posted on it's site. Rosters increased to 28 but all the additional slots are DV slots (10). All teams allowed 4 SI's and all teams allowed 4 TI's--with 40 league wide. No word on raising the Cap but I did read somewhere that DV's would be getting a substantial raise. Teams may start adding SI's after 1 Dec. With the larger number of DV roster slots, increased pay for DV players and increase number of TI's I wonder just what they will do to increase the quality of players available for the Super Draft?
they won't announce an increase in the cap until the players ratify the CBA expect 1.8<-1.7 though the leaks may be wrong
That increase will be OK if the DV Roster players pay stays as a separate budget line and not be part of the Cap.
I thought I understood that therw were 3ti's for each team except chivas and salt lake who each get 5 this season. Where am I wrong here?
you're correct, expansion teams get 5 for 2 seasons the ti slots are tradeable, and salt lake today sent one to chivas 3*10+2*5=40, so 40 total, but not 4/team
OPPS I stand corrected. Each of the present teams will now have 4 SI's and 3 TI's. The expansion teams will have extras to help them prime the pump.
