New ARs: Cameron Blanchard Logan Brown Jose Da Silva Jeffrey Greeson New 4ths: Jaime Herrera Rubiel Vazquez
So is getting appointed as a 4th kind of like getting appointed as a journeyman CR? Do appointed 4ths get assigned "easier" games less likely to involve their taking over as CR (or, games less likely to be adversely impacted if a "mere" [for lack of a better word] 4O takes the whistle)? Just curious. The closest I get to 4O is when the first member of the next crew shows up toward the end of the second half
Anyone remember the last time an mls center went out and needed to be replaced with the fourth official?
That happens maybe once every 3 years, so the odds of that factoring in to 4O assignments is about 0%. What's more entertaining is if an AR goes down, because then you have someone running line on a pro game that may not have carried a stick in 5+ years.
Guys thanks, I'm aware that CRs don't gimp up every day. Apart from the likelihood of the CR giving way, there's an unavoidable consequence of that happening. I thought/wondered, maybe the nature of the contest plays a role in who gets picked to 4th which games, based on the impact that said person's unlikely whistlefication might have on said contest. If it were to happen, which it probably won't. Mostly.
He's still on the PRO roster. He just dropped off the FIFA Panel. Don't know why? Wasn't that discussed in another thread?
This is the $1,000,000 question. Many have been on the list of 4ths for several years. Occasionally one will get moved up but it is rare. A recent (perhaps the only?) example is Unkel. PH
People usually get taken off the FIFA list early for perceived poor performance in some way or other. Another question is what happened to Veronica Perez? She is not on the FIFA Womens AR list, which has two new people. Did Veronica retire, or was she not re-appointed (replaced) like Penso and Salazar? PH
This one we can answer: After 19 years, eight at the international level, U.S. Soccer assistant referee Veronica Perez has called time on her career. During her career, Perez officiated twelve international tournaments and dozens of friendlies. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...-referee-veronica-perez-retires-from-the-game
Source? He did get some games last season as CR, but he is still on the 4th's page on the PRO web site, which is apparently updated with the two new guys' names. Also Gamble is shown on the referee page but did not have any games as CR last season. Has he been reinstated? PH
despite the update, there is still some outdated info, like Perez still being on the women's FIFA list, which also isn't including the two new ones at the moment. Hall is the source for Sibiga. as well as this photo, which shows all of the groups, R/AR/4th for 2016 PRO. so looks like Gamble is still there.
Gamble is back. PRO fired him last year for crappy performances, but they didn't follow the proper procedures to fire him according to the CBA. PSRA took PRO to court and easily won and now he is back.
