So my family wants to buy a labtop to my cousin (his family has helped us out a lot), and we found one, but we are really computer illeterate..so Here are the thigngs it has..can you please tell me if this would be a good one for a present? Intel Pentium M Processor 750 1024 MB DDR2 Dual Channel Memory Intel Graphics Media Accelarator 900 100 GB HDD 4-in-1 Media Reader 15.4" Ultrabright WXGA TFT Screen It's a Gateway "Platinum Ed." Thanks in advance. PS, it's for his bday not an xmas present just in case you where wondering.
That'll fit perfectly on his lab! I'm just joshing: it's "lap", as in putting the computer on your lap, as opposed to a desktop. Specs seem pretty good (don't know about the graphics card - I don't play games). I'm guessing it's a DVD-RW drive?
it may play but can it write dvds. if its used for office work or internet, it should be fine. dont try and do too much gaming or you may not get good results. thats what PCs are for or the XPS Dell Laptops, which you shouldve gotten him instead. or an Alienware
I'm sure he would be thrilled to be given any laptop and that looks fine if you've seen a reasonable price for it. There are probably quite a few good deals around right now so check out a few techie stores and speak to the sales people. If they try to confuse you with stuff you don't understand just walk away. My $0.02 would be wait 2 weeks and look at the new Apple laptops. They're introducing a new line of consumer/student laptops that will be affordable, stylish and have all the features you could need. The added bonus is that you'll never need to worry about viruses or hackers which is a concern if you're not an expert with computers.
