I'll bid. Tell your kid thanks. Registering as a bone marrow donor is indeed easy - I did so a couple of years ago - and you are unlikely to be called on because it is difficult to find a match. But if you are identified as a match for someone, you know you'll be incredibly important to that person's survival.

I registered as a BM donor over 15 years ago. I was called to make a donation, but while I was in the preperation process, the recipient had compilcation and died before I donated. On a somewhat related note, I find it both strange and appalling that a professional athlete in the US does not have a health insurance policy that would cover a BM transplant for his wife. Does this fault lie with MLS?
