So as of 2017-2018 serie A will have only two stadiums that are of this century: Juventus Stadium (Alianz) Dacia Arena Udinese With Stadio Della Roma in a state of perpetual limbo, the only stadium currently in development is the new Cagliari Stadium. This is an interesting project as Cagliari are building TWO stadiums. The one being built now will serve as a temporary stadium for two seasons while the old Sant 'Elia is demolished and rebuilt. IMO Cagliari was in the most desperate need of a new facility This is the final render of temp arena: Current WIP:
Frosinone's got a new stadium coming. Currently under construction. https://www.frosinonecalcio.com/lo-stadio-benito-stirpe-a-360/
New Stadio Sant'Elia. A Real jewel IMO What would be hilarious is if after the temp stadium is done, the Cagliari say "Ooops we ran out of money hehe, this IS the final stadium"
I was going to post this next. Frosinone have built a Dacia arena inspired stadium. This is PERFECT for a club of their size and it's what all smaller clubs in Italy should aspire to. Final render :
Good size for Frosinone and much, much nicer than their old stadium, which was really shitty. They had a "partners day" today and had corporate sponsors and some fans attend an event at the stadium today. A couple cousins went to it, they're season ticket holders. After years of neglect the club finally has owners, and management, that is looking forward both on the pitch and business wise. They're pushing hard to return to Serie A and want to make sure they're financial viable to compete.
This stadium design (steel beam construction) is similar to what we see in North America right now. Saputo Stadium in Montreal is a good example. This means that the total cost will be relatively low.
The next Serie A club to get a new stadium after Cagliari will likely be Atalanta. This year they finally became full owners of the Stadio Atleti D'Italia. The team have plans to completely renovate the stadium by adding a roof and pushing the curva's closer to the field. Work is scheduled to start in 2018
I'm confident Sassuolo / Reggiana with the help of Mapei and Mike Piazza will get a new stadium. Maybe even the project in Palermo...
Mapei Stadium is actually one of the better stadiums in Italy. If both the north and south ends had roofs, it would be top 5. I don't see why they'd look to build something new.
After Atalanta, the next stadium looking close to being realized is the project put forth by Empoli. The renovation of the Castellani would include getting rid of both ends and pushing seating closer to the field. Also building a new facade and adding roof. This is pending approval by the city council. the castellani as is is one of the worst in italy
it's that easy! Squinzi already owns the Mapei. I don't know what sense there is to build a new stadium from scratch when he can just improve this one.
Never said to build a new stadium from scratch nor that it wasn't "one of the better ones". Pretty easy to be in Italy, my neighborhood field would meet that standard. On another note, its fantastic that these teams have stadium projects sooner than Napoli and Roma.
These are the new renders for the proposed renovated Dall'Ara. Keeping the existing facade, but building a new structure internally. Getting rid of the athletic track and pushing fans closer to the field. According to what I've read recently the stadium plan is solid and likely to given the go ahead soon However I'm hearing rumors here in Mtl through the grapevine that Joey Saputo isn't serious about this club. So I have no idea if he is actually serious about renovating the Dall'ara as this will cost a pretty penny
Serie A newcomers SPAL are giving their stadium a new facelift. Repainting concrete terrace and adding new seats and remaking the entire field. The Paolo Mazza can only seat 12k, but it will expand to 16k next season.
Roma's hit bumps this year with the usual political BS. But it's back on track as of now after making modifications to the project.
The Napoli situation is a sad mess. At least with Roma things are somewhat active. ADL wants to city to fork over the San Paolo for free. The city want ADL to pay for the San Paolo for much more than its worth. ADL is looking at other areas to build. The idea of building a stadium in Bagnoli was just shot down.
According to Pallotta, they are expecting a final approval in the next 10 days from the region. The plan/hope right now is to break ground in February or March.
