This is something we've been messing around with on the S8C msg boards using a club 'coat of arms' type thing I've worked on and off at for about six months; I figured some here may be interested; people are always looking for wallpapers. There is a full explanation of the symbols/colors/names in the corresponding thread on the S8C boards here: http://www.section8chicago.com/forums ==== ==== ==== ==== 800x1200 COAT OF ARMS WALLPAPER RED VERSION http://www.section8chicago.com/hidden/cf97coatofarmsred.gif NAVY VERSION http://www.section8chicago.com/hidden/cf97coatofarmsnavy.gif WHITE VERSION http://www.section8chicago.com/hidden/cf97coatofarmswhite.gif LT BLUE VERSION http://www.section8chicago.com/hidden/cf97coatofarmsltblue.gif
can you perhaps post that symbol on its own? i can't read the names(?) written around it other than Kloppas/Kubik/Nowak/Wilt
Should mention that the discussion/explanation is in the "Harlem End" forum under a topic called "hey liam..."
a little too complex for a regular scarf. It might work on a woven scarf but even then it'd be close on resolution. We're talking stickers and embroidered patches over there right now however.
Ah, so that's the flag youse guys were waving at Columbus. Very cool. I like the Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass!
no, that was different: haven't made a flag of the "coat-of-arms" image yet. Just this neosocialist one
Why in the world does the Fire, or Section 8, need a coat of arms? Are we going to have knights in Section 8 too?
Hmmmm... It needs something extra. To add a little "oomph" to it. How about adding the chick in the tank top from today's game into there somewhere?
What is with this today? It took me a little while to realize who people were talking about. Her name escapes me (though I probably wouldn't mention it anyway, due to some fans passing the "creepy" line), but I've met her several times and she is very nice. I remember her (and her boyfriend/husband) helping me set up some flags and one of the large, overhead banners before a game as well. Most importantly though, she's been at every f*cking Fire game that I have ever attended. I fail to see the "breaking news" factor. I can understand the Dallas fans, who are probably just turned on by the fact that they saw a girl with all her teeth, but everyone else should be able to handle themselves with a little more... restraint... when talking about other section 8ers You kids and your internet.
I've never been to Chicago, yet, and I recognize her from almost every pick of section 8 I've ever seen. Do people on this board even go to games? I also saw Creativedestruction, Irish Steve, One of Jay's kids, Tammy, and Walter
Zach, I'd really prefer NOT to call it a 'coat of arms'. I just can't think of a better descriptor yet. A logo treatment of some sort. Any ideas? Do we need it? No, of course not. I just thought it was something nice to demonstrate the connection of city history/pride with the Fire. WHAT HE SAID. Good lord folks. Thank you Mike.
It's a JOKE, people! I guess I was too subtle in poking fun at all the people drooling over her in the Fire-Crew (R) thread by importing it here. My bad. I'll include a "rolling eyes" smiley or something next time for the slower among us.
Please remove Mies van der Rohe from this list of honor. Meis is a pox on architecture. Terrazo, galley kitchens, baseboard electric heat and sweating windows are not advances of any kind. Additionaly, Miesian buildings are GODAWFUL UGLY! If I had a time machine I would use it to talk that guy into changing his major.
This isn't a 'circle of taste'. This is a list of names with a large influence on Chicago. I am hardly the world's number one Wright fan but even I wouldn't dare exclude him from this sort of list. Not to mention, of course, that you're all kinds of wrong.
Well you should remove every name except DuSable. Chicago literally wouldn't be known as such w/o he and the natives whom were here. Next time for your inspiration don't use a Goddamn Kaleidescope. Fonsos
