I spelled his name wrong, Don't kill me please.

U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati named Jürgen Klinsmann as head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team today, making him the 35th coach in the history of the program.

“We are excited to have Jürgen as the head coach of our Men’s National Team,” said Gulati. “He is a highly accomplished player and coach with the experience and knowledge to advance the program. Jürgen has had success in many different areas of the game and we look forward to the leadership he will provide on and off the field.”

U.S. Soccer will hold a press conference in New York on Monday, Aug. 1, to formally introduce Klinsmann. Further details regarding the press conference will be released later today.

Klinsmann’s first match in charge of the U.S. National Team will be against Mexico on Aug. 10 in Philadelphia. Tickets are still available for the match and can be purchased at ussoccer.com. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN3.com and Univision. In addition, Univision will air a live pre-game show beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET.

I wish him well, hopefully he can take us to the next level. I have my reservations though, as I know others do.

Well, I'm liking it. Want to wait for Monday to see how the 'control' issues were resolved. If USSF relented, I'm really like it. If JK relented, then I don't.

Still, the tactical/nose to the grindstone/defensive issues are legit ones with JK. But he does know how to do things, both as player and manager, and at the highest level. He should have that EF Hutton factor with the players.

    I wanted this.

I know this is no guarantee.

BUT! I am hoping he gives US Soccer the change we need.

Official: Jürgen Klinsmann is the new coach of the U.S. men’s soccer team. He’ll have more control than any U.S. coach before him.

I'm looking forward to this, both because I like Klinsmann and because it will be interesting to see how long before people turn on him.

    mind your own.
We needed a change and, realistically, this is probably the best we could do. I welcome the breath of fresh air and wish him the best.

Re: NEW COACH - Jurgen Klinsman

You will not hear that Monday, but the US already has underway much of what Klinsmann initially wanted 5 years ago. Klinsmann will focus on the next three years. Expect that to include some youth teams as well, but especially the Olympic Program.

well some have always been against him, so they won't be turning, but merely having their suspicions confirmed.

It's a step forward. It was time for Bob to move on.

Of course he isn't going to magically take our talent and make it world class. But I think now is a good time to bring in new blood and get the team focused properly.
