you know what, that's kinda funny, but way too close to the truth for my liking. For almost a decade, the only real emotion this club inspired in me was anger. It may actually take a while to switch gears.
I am just waking up to this news as I was having an existential crisis yesterday and avoiding all social media, television and radio. Luckily for my happiness I don't usually dwell in a pit of despair for very long and now with hearing the news I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. The other good news is I finally decided to start reading the Malachy McCourt book I have laying around and I think that was a positive direction that I'm going to try to continue on with. Happy days!
With the pandemic and the recent "hoarding" of toilet paper, maybe that should be: "MLS hires Nimrod as Director of TP" Seems like a suitably sh*tty job for him to do.
Just finished up an article about a few candidates I think would do a great job at replacing him as Club President. It'll be up sometime this week.
Here it is: https://mlsmultiplex.com/2021/01/27/chicago-fire-top-3-best-club-president/ Please read it for my reasoning, but my candidates are: Diego Gutierrez Alyse LaHue Mike Ernst
Good points, all. I disagree that Diego was "recognized as one of the best to play for the team in the first decade of the club’s existence," (not even in the top 20 or so) but I totally agree with you regarding his post playing career. I always thought it odd that he never received a look for a front office position with the Fire Alyse LaHue would be an absolutely inspired pick. I only met her once, in the early days of the Red Stars, but I have heard pretty great things about her. She has the credentials (MBA, GM for two professional teams) AND has "ruined" far fewer sports franchises that Nelson Rodriguez! We all adore Mike Ernst. Even in the worst of times under the recent Fire administrations, Mike Ernst has always been a stand up guy. He is great. You continue to impress, @Jiggly_333!
This poster used to be right over my bed and it's still directly in my line of sight every day. Whether or not he deserved it, that's Diego between Blanco and Nowak.
We may disagree where he ranks, but he was a good player. Who is the player covered by the flash? Edit: I make out "De" so I presume it is Beasley.
Excellent analysis! Well done Jiggly. I have to say that Mike is the guy who gets my support. And the reason is he suffered firsthand the purgatory that was the last “Decade of Despair.” How do you even come to work each day knowing it’s gonna be bad, and none of it was your fault but you know how to make it better? He musta ordered Maalox by the case during the season. Or Malört.
Just because I was on the Fire's website today and this is still on the front page of the site. Let us revel in this news once again! Chicago Fire FC President Nelson Rodríguez Resignshttps://www.chicagofirefc.com/post/2021/01/25/chicago-fire-fc-president-nelson-rodr-guez-resigns Oh, and this thread had fallen to page three. It can probably close now.
I actually just tried to edit my post (and it said it was 29 minutes since I posted) to change or retract that statement, but the poor time keepers at Big Soccer world headquarters stated my 30 minutes had elapsed! Also, once Nelson Rodriguez finally does manage to weasel his way into another soccer-related position, we can track his failures and continue his CAREER deathwatch, as opposed to merely his Chicago Fire Career Deathwatch!
Yes, see the 2021 Roster thread . Also, you posted virtually the same question in the 2021 Roster thread yesterday. It has been answered there.
