Much more solid and calculated pressure, much less getting caught in transition, much better chances created (xG), much more players in the box on crosses, much better building up from the back (because Zielinski drops back now to help?) Already a major improvement over the most incompetent manager in Napoli history. When Napoli won the scudetto Garcia lived in Saudi Arabia and worked as a manager there - he most likely never watched a Napoli game and knew nothings about the team spalletti left beheind when he arrived. Not saying it was a perfect performance, but it was much better than anything I saw under Garcia. Napoli actually looked solid in defence at times
Rrahmani was offside by a toe. The offside calls are too much. Having Osimhen back made a difference. We are a better team when he plays. Kvara scored a great header. In defense, we were solid. It finally seems we have gelled. Rrahmani was a little slow to action. Good start for Mazzarri.
Politano almost produced a wonder goal. We are looking very dominant and assured at the back. Acerbi is the only thing holding Inter's D together. Inter are dangerous on counter.
Napoli are not playing bad at all. Just keep at it. What was the Napoli players complaint on the goal?
How many champions League slots will Italy get next year? Premier League people seem pretty confident they will get five.
Ref and VAR made the difference, but no one will mention it. Obvious fault on Lobotka by Lautaro at the first goal, as well as Osimhen should have had a PK. Napoli was better before the ref decided to make his entrance. Rest of the game was a disaster from Napoli
At this point just let Mazzarri do wtv he wants. ADL forcing him to play 4-3-3 to “stick to the brand” is sending him on a fools errand. The technical project collapsed even before the season began. ADL remains a pig whose luck ran out
FWIW, the Captain said at the end of the match that there is a clear gulf in class between the 2 teams. Can't always be the Manager. Was hoping for a Partenopei victory today.
Great tactics. I especially liked how we conceded 3, and scored 0. If we work on this more, next game with Juventus we can make it -4 and 8 or something, but with great tactical display, and of course blame Rudi Garcia afterwards. That is what real men do. Going from a heroic 1st class performance against RM, one of the best teams in history, to admitting that we are at the level of my elementary school is just priceless. I hate GARCIA! Bastard.
The race to Natale with 5 games in 16 days begins tomorrow: 8th at Juve 12th Braga (CL) 16th Cagliari 19th Frosinone (Coppa) 23rd at Roma
