Amazing result from the Trofeo Moretti triangular and a perfect occasion to inaugurate the new thread.. Napoli 2 Inter 1!!! Sure, it was an Inter coming from their CL engagement, fielding some reserve players, and it was only a friendly blah blah blah, but I really don't care. Napoli, a Serie C1 side, dominated and outplayed Inter, a CL side, who only managed to shoot on goal and score off a dubious penalty following a blatant dive by Figo.

    Juve is up next...

Napoli is clearly the better team. It wasn't even Inter's B or C team. Adriano, Martins, Figo, Zanetti, all played. Well done Napoli, now just to beat Juve ;)

    FORZA NAPOLI

Who's the skinny forward with the workrate of a Bategol? Pia? Fia? I can't make out what the announcer is calling him.

Gah, what a shameful dive by Figo.

Congratulations to Napoli. And, as a bonus to Napoli fans who get RAI International, Monday's Napoli-Reggina game in the Coppa Italia will be shown live at 3:15 pm Eastern US time.

What a way to start the season by wining the TROFEO MORETTI!!!!!, beating Juve and Inter!!!!! Napoli showed today that they really deserve be in Serie B, or A. They have such great passionate players, a huge wonderful crowd that would bost Serie A or B's attendance and a rich history! Now I now they didn't win in the play offs and should not sue their way to another league but i really wish and still hope that Napoli ends up in B.

    Forza Azzurri.

Never in my life have I been more proud of Napoli than I was/am today. What a game they played. Juve and Inter looked terrible too. Either that, or Napoli make them look stupid.

Either way, it was beautiful. I am certainly looking forward to this season. FORZA!

I feel the same way. No shame in supporting a serie C team here!! Only a matter of time before they are back in A and we can watch them every week!! By the way, anyone know where I can find a forza napoli scarf online somewhere, preferably from a U.S. merchant? I would really really like to get one!

    Ricordo quand'ero fanciullo,
sognavo una maglia e un pallon,
    guardando la curva che canta,
    io provo la stessa emozion,
e quando il Napoli e' in campo,
    fortissimo batte il mio cuor,
la voce mi trema e son certo,
che il Napoli e' l'unico amor!

oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh ohhhhh
oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh ohhhhh

    Today's Coppa Italia result:

    Napoli 1 Reggina 0

Napoli now faces Piacenza next weekend, and if they can manage to win that, they can look forward to a home-and-home matchup against Roma in the Round of 16 at the end of November.

The great thing about this is that I think we will not only beat Piacenza, but we will beat Roma too.

    FORZA!

Roma will be harder because it's over two legs. And it's a long way away at the end of November. That's a part of the season when a squad might start suffering from injuries, etc. And if Napoli isn't running away with their group in Serie C1, they might not want to throw everything into it. But, first things first, must get by Piacenza. Strong feeling it'll be on RAI again.

Napoli is in Group B again this season. Here are the teams in Serie C1/B:-

Acireale, Chieti, Foggia, Frosinone, Gela, Grosseto, Juve Stabbia, Lanciano, Lucchese, Manfredonia, Martina, Massese, Napoli Soccer, Perugia, Pisa, Pistoiese, Sangiovannese, Sassari Torres

Obviously, Perugia should provide a challenge while both Frosinone and Grosseto made the C1/A playoffs last year. Salernitana is in the other group, for some reason.

Looks like they went back to geographic group distributions. Well, not counting Salernitana. Looks like no derby with our gemelli (Genoa)...

  23. Hey Sue,

Just to correct you last season, Napoli was in Serie C1/A.
