Nope. Didn't. So your point was?

Whatever the name, it should reflect the Fire in some way, a postive way and be immediately recognized as the Stadium Pub at the Fire stadium. It shouldn't be confused with Liverpool OR a bowling alley bar.

I don't think it was your intent to be elitist - but... your comments could read that way.

I'm not a bowler myself - but I'll belly up to what ever bar or rail finds a home at the stadium. Potential fans shouldn't feel intimidated by the place - that's my point. Imagine an interested party that may not know the game well but wants to check the experience - getting thrown into a Disneyland for anglophiles could be a lowsy time for the newbie. Think also on our Latin neighbors and loyal east euro supporters - they should feel welcome.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Red Room or Hook & Ladder I think have to be it.

Red Room sounds pretty clubbish but it's sort of odd in an indescribable way - Maybe it needs to actually be spelled redRUM :) I don't get the "Hook & Ladder" equals porno/gay bar association some make. It's american, ties into the Fire well, and the decor could be firehouse messroom. redRUM could be a little more cushy and, well, red.

Either way. if it has a corner booth with a table and a television and serves cider, skins, and a good sandwich, I'll be there basically all the time.

I just assumed that there will have to be some sort of corporate tie-in. [It IS the 21st Century, after all...] Why not make the corporate tie-in at least memorable?

I think the corporate tie-in/sponsor of the pub will dictate the degree to which the Pub's name reaches on the "coolness scale." What I fear is that the corporate sponsor will force the pub to be saddled with the penultimate in stupid names.

    What's a Porno Bar Association? :)

Is Tom Flannigan part of that?

KOMRADES would be pretty funny. Wasn't that the bar from the Wayne's World movie?

Heck, any corporate sponsor that is associated with Alchohol, Tobacco, [maybe not firearms], fire, soccer, or anything else that exudes fun would be a great tie-in.

Vivid Video, Trojan Condoms, RedRum, Guiness, Winston, Zippo Lighters, bring 'em ALL in as sponsors of the pub, I say!!!

Since you will have a real "firehouse", why not use a fireman's best friend or biggest fan: the Dalmation? It could be called The Spotted Dog or something like that. It kind of has that quirky English Pub name and makes an homage to both the club and its fans as this will likely be a major gathering place for the faithful. I didn't read the entire thread so forgive this outsider if it was suggested already.

    Flush toilets??? BRILLIANT!!!

Get drunk, burn some barley malt, use it anyway 'cause you're too cheap to replace it, sell it on the cheap to some poor drunk slobs who'll believe it's that way on purpose.... Now that's some marketing genius MLS could do with!

There's a glimpse into your future Peter... I bet there'll be a thread proposing some sort of "Eternal Cremation" someday, just because it'll "tie in with the Fire name"..... Which do you prefer?

WINNER! I think everyone could get into an actual-agreed upon club anthem... This one's just begging to be used...
    ............Iowegian?

First of all, consider the environs. Though it will ostensibly operate as a seperate business, and hopefully provide many a happy butt a place to sit while the Fire aren't playing, it will still be attached to the stadium. And most likely it won't be a pub, or a lounge, or a KoC bingo hall. It will probably be a "sports bar & grill" type thing. I hope I'm wrong, and it turns out to be a nice bar/pub atmosphere (still with the bigscreens though), because I like "Stoppage Time". It just depends upon the off-time economics... If I'm right though, I just hope the menus (beer & food) are good. Preferrably with one of those "Dallas 96" specials (eat a 96oz. flaming cow, and you get to kick Jason Kreis's mother in the nuts)...

Also, there are never enough bars, Irish or otherwise... If a bar with 24 hour soccer on TV, and $1 beers on tap opened up across the street named "Flaming Purple-Pink's Lick It Up Lounge", I'd wear leather and a boa. Of course, I'd leave my shillelagh at home, and my butt firmly planted on the barstool...;)

Actually, this time last year, we still managed to find time to start more than one "New Stadium Proposal" threads... Hell, I get bored in between afternoon and night games... Next year will come soon enough... (well, maybe not soon enough...)

Here are a couple of suggestions what about "The Centre Spot" (OH Just thought do you actually call it the centre spot?)

or what about "The Strikers Bar" (Do you call the front players Strikers? I apologise for my ignorance, although we technically speak the same language there are a few differances).

I agree with some of the others on here I think the bar should pure Chicago (I like Chicago Bars). Why would you want an English/Irish themed bar, after all it is going to be the pub for the Chicago Fire is it not?

The two pubs at our stadium are not themed after Chicago. Although we do actually have a "Chicago Rock Cafe" in town. Hey I just thought there is another good reason for me to support the Chicago Fire :D

PS - For those who may take a passing interest in my other team LCFC beat Northampton 3-2 on Saturday after being 2-0 down at half time, fantastic (A goal in the last minute) :)

PPS - I`m looking forward to getting over to Chicago sometime in the future having a beer in the bar with some of you and taking in a Fire game.

Why do you people think you can name the pub. Whoever AEG or bridgeview leases or sells the rights to have a pub in the stadium is going to name it.

No kidding. You tell em man!!! Why do they think their opinions matter. Next they will be requesting brick walls and trying to design their own uniforms! Stupid fans.

Of course you're right, Fanaddict - but I think DrBobC summed it up best - My God this is going to be a long off-season. We've run short on opportunities to disagree about football, so we debated the architectural merits of the stadium drawing (it's only a model - shhhh!!), then we collectively creamed over the new jersey (he he - he said cream over new jersey).

There. I think you're up-to-date now. Holy crap, this is going to be a long off-season.

P.S. on the subject of "Spotted Dog" - I'm having a problem with the whole "dog" association. Something about quaffing down vast amount of yellow liquid under a picture of a dog -- Beer becomes urine much to quickly as is, in a physical sense. I don't want to accelerate the process and take it there psychologically while I'm still drinking it. Or maybe I just need to start drinking better beer.

They should have a contest to invent a signature drink for the bar and the Chicago Fire. something with a name like "Scarlet Haze" or something.

I don't mean to interupt but about the song. That would be a cool song if you guys could pull it off, also why not use Franz Ferdinand's "This Fire": "This fire is outta control, we're gonna burn this city! burn this city!".

Also I like the Cow and Lantern.

Good point, but if the league's official beer is served generously many would be drinking a urine-like substance! :D

On the other hand, I don't think people would read that much into it. It's just a dog associated with a firehouse and you can't have a real firehouse without one. :)
