You're right, he was called up to the senior team, however before that he was considered for the Sub-17 team for a 2001 tournament in Peru. He was eventually eliminated from the list, and since then has held a grudge against Uruguay. He turned them down, saying he "wanted" to play for Mexico. In 2004 when LaVolpe wanted to call him up for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, he and his dad said no because they believed there was a more important role to play on the Olympiakos squad. Now, less than two years later, Nery is riding the bench for some second-tier European team and, in January, expected Vergara to sign him to a contract bigger than that of Oswaldo Sanchez. What an idiot. http://www.peru.com/futbol/AutoNoticias/DetalleNoticia33036.asp
The kid is good, not a phenomenon, but better than many foreigns in our league. The problem is his father/agent, he has screwed Jr's career big time. By now the kid should be playing regularly with a team in both club and international level but constat off the field problems created or promoted by the dad have the kid in the bench of his club and away of any national team. That said, here's some links to stories published today about Castillo's possible arrival to Chivas either for Apertura 2006 or more likely for Clausura 2007. From Ovaciones http://www.ovaciones.com/deportivo/notas/futnac4.html Content on above link changes constantly, so here's the main idea: From Esto http://www.oem.com.mx/esto/060528/futbol/19futbol.asp From ESPN http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=443657
i think nerry would do very good with bofo so i think it would be good to get him but i dont think chivas fans should be disapointed if we dont get him because we got some goood players.
naw... chivas have insane players. With our seleccionados we woulda won the apertura, and we'll hopefully win libertadores after the mundial
