The schedule is out so we can start talking seriously. Last year's trip to Columbus was a blast as I think everyone who went will agree. We had talked about how it would be great to roadtrip to Dallas this year to see the new stadium in Frisco. The Wizards play FC Dallas on October 15 in Frisco. While I think I'm still interested in going that seems like an awful long time to wait for a roadtrip. So let us start talking about a summer roadtrip. The date that leaps out at me is June 18 at the Chicago Fire. There is also Monday July 4th at the Colorado Rapids but I don't think we'd get the same numbers for that one. The drive to Denver is worse than the drive to Chicago. Chicago pizza is better than Denver ???, what the hell is Denver cuisine known for? omlettes? Plus it is a weekday and a holiday meaning family commitments and work the next day. There is also Saturday July 23rd at the Columbus Crew, but as mentioned earlier we went to Columbus last year. August 13th at Real Salt Lake? That would be a hellacious drive and require advance research into Utah law and Salt Lake City ordinances on liquor possession and public inebreation. Plus it is getting close to the start of another school year. No, the last two sentences are not mutually exclusive! I'm thinking Chicago in June and Dallas in October might be great. Sound off with your thoughts.
I don't really know a lot this far in advance, but my birthday is Oct. 16, and I think traveling to Frisco for a game right before my birthday may be just the present I am looking for.
Whereas mine is October 10th. A belated present is still a present! Further incentive is the 15th is the last game of the regular season.
The first time I ever had Chipotle was in Denver, about a year before they came to KC. ...take that for what it's worth.
I'm just guessing, but given the USSF's penchant for scheduling WCQs in Foxboro, I'm guessing that the KC at NE game on June 4th ends up being a doubleheader with USA/Costa Rica.
Chipotle: McDonalds' version of Furr's Cafeteria Mexican style. it ain't bad, it just ain't that good either...
I think it's good enough that it forces me to conveniently forget the fact that McDonalds owns it every time i eat there (which, sadly, has not been often. I don't know how the english could possibly handle the "hot" sauce.)
I'm up for any of them. And I'm willing to be the "Organizer/Money up front" guy again this year. Let's decide on dates early in the season and I'll get the ball rolling.
Only one freaking game in Denver?!? Man, I KNEW this 'Chivas USA' crap was a mistake! If anyone DOES make it to the Denver game (and I'm not in K.C. for the holiday) they're welcome to Harvard-phonebooth-style crash at my place. Plus, I'll only be a few minutes from Golden...so you know what that means!
Oct 1, here! All in favor of a multiple birthday, blue-shot, steak-night, clinch the East, travel bash say, "Aye!". Denver has quality Mexican, not that you have to travel for that.
I'd be down for going to back to Columbus. Maybe this time Ben can deliver the coup de grace to the population of central Ohio punk kids. Seriously, I enjoyed Crew Stadium. It may be somewhat crude, but it was a great atmosphere in spite of all of the stupid, lame, pointless extracirricular in-game crap that has become a Hunt owned team trademark
Dallas is a must and will happen road trip or not. C-bus would be great but a few things need to swing my way to make that happen.
If we go to both Columbus and Dallas then I suggest a new banner for both trips. WHERE IS OUR STADIUM YOU CHEAP BA$TARD?!? or how about this one... WE GIVE YOU TROPHIES. YOU GIVE THEM STADIUMS. THANKS FOR NOTHING A$$HAT! perhaps I'm being too harsh?
Oh... also forgot to mention that the 9th is my 21st... so this will be my first weekend legally drinking with you guys
Well unless I end up getting a job down in KC that would involve me working on weekends, I'm in for the 15th in Dallas.
