    Toselli
    Martínez
    Larrondo
    Suárez
    Carmona
    Isla
    Medel
    Vidal
    Vidangossy
    Sánchez
    Grondona

Yo digo : los dos a la final !!!
    he he

Good luck to Chile they have been the most impressive team I have seen in this competition. Great defending, attack with flair, and a very cohesive group. Went to the game yesterday and it was very much a pro-Chilean crowd, which offered the best atmosphere I have seen thus far in the tourny. Unfortunate that Montreal won't be hosting a semi final.
Couple of players have stood out, Toscelli (keeper with good instincts), Sanchez (can turn on a dime), Vidal (eye for goal from a DM) and Vidangossy (mesmerizes with the ball at his feet). Are these players future stars in Europe?

    Thanks Chompiras, ElClu and Rob:)

Yesterday Vidal didn't play (probably you are talking about Mauricio Isla, who scored 2 goals, and is one of the better chilean players (he can play like sweeper or defensive midfielder, but he always goes in attack.

So far: Vidal gonna play with Bayer 04 Leverkusen (but like centralback, not like left midfielder), Vidangossy gonna play with Recreativo Huelva(Villarreal will send it to that team on loan), Sánchez gonna play with Udinese, and Medina gonna play with Osasuna.
But probably 2 or 3 other U20 chilean players will go to Europe: Suárez, Isla, and why not Toselli and Larrondo.

I know Vidal didn't play yesterday but he was immense in the previous matches. Yes Isla has played great as well not only yesterday. I kept on wondering why a #3 was involved in so many attacks. Either way this looks to be a very strong young group of Chileans who along with Suazo on the senior squad can be a surprise team come 2010.

Can this team break the curse? We always seem to lose in semifinals... we have to break the curse at some point. :p

Choking at the last moment seems normal, it lasted throughout the 20th century.

Sulantay is sticking to his tactical scheme, Medina one half with Grondona the other half, similar to what Lippi did with his lone strikers in WC 06.

Sanchez has been the most difficult player to deal with, I expect to see more of him than I don't. He's been plagued by minor injuries, only to be subbed out.

Vidal is back and will be very eager to play, he's the one starting player not affected by extra time against Nigeria.

The back four have kept impressing me throughout the tournamnet, Curimilla has been strong, so has Isla, Chile have really been playing well together.

Thursday will be the toughest game yet, if it's anything like el sudamericano, the game is going to be tight.

    Gracias.

We need to keep these kids isolated... they are already making them feel like rock stars.

On monday they had TVN make a contact between Toselli and his idol Buljuvacich, goalkeeper from UC.

They also made a live contact between Medel and his family in Chile... making a big sob story of how important is what they are doing and bla bla bla....

    I agree.

In UCTV I saw Sánchez and another player wearing different clothes in a canadian mall, and joking with the "journalist" of that channel.

    Media=shit:mad:

Let them alone, pleeeeeeeeeese! (just for this week at least!)

    .............Toselli..............
    ............Martínez............
    ...Larrondo..Suárez...Vidal
    Currimilla..Medel..Isla..Cortés
    ............Vidangossy...........
    ............¿Medina?.............

La duda del "Negro" Sulantay es Medina o Grondona.

I'd stick to the formula of having Medina start.

looks like a conventional 4-4-1-1 tactic, saw that used a lot during WC 06.

I would be happy if we can squeeze Sanchez for at least one-half. he is always dangerous when he touches the ball. But he and Vidal will need to keep their heads cool or they will get into "card" problems again. We know que los argentinos van a pegar pata, they just need to be prepared for them and not go down with every single contact made.

I am a tad worried about the "other" uncontrollable factor and that is the weather. There are calling for rain (chance of t-storm). Last time Chile played in rain on artificial turf (vs Austria), it brought there weakest game, in my opinion.
I do not think they know hiw to use the wet turf to their advantage. On offence, they need to keep the ball low and shoot low (with one bounce) on net.

I can sense the bias in this statement :)

But I have to agree. He probably scores 1 goal for every 10 scoring chances he gets. Also, he does minimal in creating goal-scoring opportunities and has a habit of ALWAYS being offside. If I could only have a dollar for every time he is called offside, I'd be filthy rich!

No bias at all, bro: in far less significant playing time Grondona has scored the same amount of goals. I am not debating whether one is better than the other (Medina is going to Spain, after all), but in a short tournament you need a striker that's "hot". At the very least, Grondona is hotter at the moment. :)
