Maybe the record gets broken this week? What is it, btw, 3? Of course, I am refering to Carling, Man. U. vs. Arsenal...there is a shot of 5 YAs (Spector, Howard, Rossi, Simek, Karby) Maybe 6 if Manyoo can sign EJ in time
does the Carling Cup count for anything, it is nice no doubt but lets count only Premiership,Bundesliga ( top div's) and UEFA games that is the measure we should go by. It was nice to see Friedel,Boca and McHead this past weekend especialy McBride's header and great save by Friedel.
It's United v/s Arsenal...it does mean something. United may not start its best side but I think you'll see them field a team that would be competetive in the premiership. Arsenal fields a young team in the cup as a policy but have they really shown much of a drop-off from the form of the 1st team as they beat nearly full-strength premiership sides to get to this point?
I just posted this info and speculation in another thread, too, but Arsenal reserves play at Charlton today. If Simek and/or Karbassiyoon don't play today, I think that is a good sign that they will be in the squad Wednesday for the Carling Cup.
I was also waiting to see who plays for the reserves tonight. Simek would have been a lock to start had he not gone on loan. Now that the team has made it this far w/o him he may be on the outside looking in. Of course, Arsenal has had the injury bug lately, so I would think there might be some changes
It doesn't look like they are in the lineup, so good news... http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?...blid=&Title=Reserves:+Charlton+v+Arsenal,+7pm
If Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and United gain entry to Europe via EPL standings would that leave Watford, Portsmouth, and Fulham as the teams competing for the spot?
I think there have been three or four (maybe more) Yanks on the field at the same time in the German lower divisions in recent years, but this would nevertheless be remarkable.
Maybe. I know Millwall made the UEFA Cup by coming in 2nd to ManU in the FA Cup. I would assume it works the same with the Carling Cup, but you know what happens when you assume.
Only someone who thought that Central America is the "height" of great football would refer to Brian McBride as "McHead".
I agree. Everyone is always saying, and Rossi, don't forget Rossi. So what if he was born in America, He is playing for Italy! And if he ain't got the balls to step up to his old man and tell him that he wants to play for the U.S. then forget him.
It's possible that there have been 4 or even 5 Americans on the pitch at one point in German Regionalliga matches.
the possibility that this could really happen in a ManU v Arsenal match is crazy, isn't it? Progress = good.
