Either Fernão de Magalhães (Ferdinand Magellan), Vasco da Gama, Henry the Navigator or St. Anthony of Lisbon (or of Padua), but probably Magellan.

I doubt any of those three will be much remembered in a few centuries, their life's work didn't have that large an impact in world history.

500 years later and we're still talking about them

my guess either vasco da gama or prince henry the navigator. They were responsible for pioneering globalization

st. anthony, most ppl think he's italian and magellan was a traitor

Currently CR7 without doubt everyone knows him.

    But historically
St Anthony , vasco da Gama, Magellan are all well known

Also the greatest ever- Antonio Oliveira Salazar

I hate it when people claim certain people are Portuguese because their great great grandpa was a Sephardi Jew who was born in Portugal, moved to Spain, immigrated to the USA, married an Irish, kids married a Scottish and a german, etc.... o_O

At some point, the Portuguese connection is completely lost.

They're baseball players. Former MVP's in the case of Pedroia and Texiera.

    Sean Paul. :p

I've heard more of Magellan (Fernando de Magallanes) and Vasco da Gama.

In pop culture, just Cristiano Ronaldo and Eusebio (to an extent) would be recognizable for Mexicans (at least in Mexico).

yes, and Ive seen streets etc named after him even in Canada.

right now its obviously CR7, but not everybody pays attention to sports

than again many people these days dont pay attention to history or culture, most would rather take "selfies" and not read any books or attempt to educate themselves.

Pre Ronaldo, at one point, it was Shawn Fernandes AKA Shawn Desman. He first started out as a Portuguese pop singer then he hit it off in Canada and became a pretty big pop star for awhile.

Currently I would say Dustin Pedroia, Shane Victorino, Mark Texeira, Nelly Furtado, Cristiano (most famous probably), Jose Mourinho and Katy Perry (gives CR7 a run for his title). I'm probably forgetting someone.
