I got ya, I was just joking. Comparing the two situations never crossed my mind. Different levels entirely. Just think that fans can be a bit entitled and now more than ever, everyone feels the need to share their opinion. Sometimes people forget that although many athletes are paid extremely well, they still go through similar struggles with physical and mental health. If he were a spoiled prick who had no intention of doing anything other than collecting a paycheck, I'd say he can have all the smoke and get him the ******** out. However, it appears he is trying to make an honest go of it and is incredibly unlucky. Think I just have a soft spot for injured players because I can relate to some level. I look forward to him moving on and opening up a spot for another more capable player, but I can also understand that this is down to mismanagement by the club, not Phil Jones.
wasn't it that same 'tenacity' that has caused him to get hurt quite a bit in the past? i'd like to feel sorry for him but the way he recklessly clatters into most tackles could well have caused it. in his defence i will say it was also his versatility at Blackburn Rovers that was part of the promise. particularly when he played DM more than CB. he was not technically gifted though
I think if he'd kept his mouth shut rather than retort I'd have preferred him more. If you're out injured and don't have to worry about financials you should be out promoting positive things in your community (especially with how ********ed the world is nowadays), I just have never seen anything from him that makes me respect him as a person outside of football and his comeback has rubbed me the wrong way I guess
Very fair. Come to think of it, I have not heard much about him at all (on or off the field) over the last few years. I know he claims to be a private person, but you would expect some sort of involvement with the club or community with all that free time.
Young players must learn how to cope with social media - Jones Phil Jones: Manchester United defender believes young players have to be able to cope with 'toxic' social media | Football News | Sky Sports As an aside, Jones has never been closer than featuring for the first team since his last appearance vs Tranmere, with Varane likely to be out for this coming game vs Leicester at minimum. Lindelof and Bailly should be the favorite pair to start but wouldn't be surprised one bit if Ole were to pick Jones also, if he's fit. With the games coming thick and fast, better hope that Varane won't be out for too long.
No way Phil Jones has survived Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Solskjær.The epitome of play dead so you don't get noticed. pic.twitter.com/dEAbqHMKHy— Papi Magnifico (@BantzChesterUtd) October 25, 2021
.... Phil Jones has travelled with the #mufc squad for tomorrow's game against Villarreal #mulive [@samuelluckhurst]— utdreport (@utdreport) November 22, 2021
Interesting that he reportedly travelled with the rest of the team when he's not officially in United's CL squad this season.
Benfica could rescue Manchester United outcast Phil Jones from his Old Trafford nightmare with a surprise January bid https://t.co/2TrVaP46bq— Mail Sport (@MailSport) December 21, 2021 Interesting potential destination, if true (DM). Big club in Portugal, challenging for trophies, gets to play in Europe and with their current CBs are Otamendi and Vertonghen especially, should be able to earn playing opportunities as well. Looks like Ralf might be the one to finally get him out of the club though.
A loan will be meh, if he manages to actually sell Phil Jones though then Rangnick deserves nothing less than a statue outside OT
When things sound too good to be true, they usually are Unless there is a surprise, chalk up another poor source mark against the Daily Fail / Simon Jones - would trust the sources below from Portugal more on Benfica news. Phil Jones is not in Benfica’s plans, as hasn’t even been considered by the club #mulive [record, o jogo, @Sport_Witness]— utdreport (@utdreport) December 22, 2021
This is from September, but it's a very good read. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/i-lost-my-mind-completely-i-thought-i-was-finished-qx76hc3b8 It's behind a paywall, but someone was kind enough to share the article in full on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/comments/pqwpm2/i_lost_my_mind_completely_i_thought_i_was/ It sounds like he pretty much had no right knee for a while. It's amazing what doctors can do these days.
Have you guys seen the video of Jones walking off the pitch in tears and clapping the fans? We've all bagged on this guy relentlessly and his play as sure as hell deserved it. But we need more players at United with his heart and love for the club. I wish the guy was more talented and could stay fit, because it's clear he wants to be here and to give everything for the club. Something I can't say for most of the others that wear the shirt.
