Whoa, that looks like an ad dropped itself in the middle of the page. That's odd, because those size of ads shouldn't be anywhere near a thread. Let me know if it happens again, may have been a glitch in the matrix when something was getting updated.
It's still happening. But only when I'm not logged in. I'd be interested to know if it is just me because I'm on a relatively old version of firefox, or if someone that is on a current version of Firefox is experiencing the same problem when they aren't logged in.
Ok, it must be a css issue with that version of FF. I was mistaken that there is a square ad that shows when not logged in, and it's placement must be not playing nice with FF 24 (in v29 it looks good). I should be able to get a FF24 going here and see what's up.
I am here to administer the most important test of all: does the media button, which has never worked for Twitter even though it's supposed to work for Twitter, work for Twitter? Let's test it out! <time passes> Nope. It still doesn't work.
In my FF24 it's looking great. The only thing I can suggest is to clear your cache and see if that clears it up.
The search index is taking a super long time. It's just about half done. By tomorrow it should be caught up.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. I'm able to tweet from the bottom media buttons, and I'm seeing the counter (says 1 right now). Bring me up to speed and I'll take a look
If you click on the media button when editting a post, the media window pops up and it says twitter works, but if you paste in the url for the tweet, it doesn't actually work. The only way to post tweets is to manually type in: Code: [media=twitter]<tweet id>[/media]
Let's say I want to post this tweet here on BigSoccer: https://twitter.com/bigsoccer/status/468849146506788864 In fact, let's say I want to do that right here in this post. So I click the "Media" button above the editing box. That's the one with the overlapping film icon, right next to he "Image" button. It comes up with a dialogue that invites me to enter a media URL, and a little note that reads: This is a lie. It's never worked for Twitter. If I paste the Twitter URL above, I get an error message that reads: The specified URL cannot be embedded as media. This disappoints me even more than Chivas USA. What I should get is this: Just ordered my authentic, #USMNT away kit for the #WorldCup. With Julian Green, #9 customization. Let the hate commence! #Brazil2014— BigSoccer (@bigsoccer) May 20, 2014 By the way, what happened to the "Quote" button atop the editing box? For the quote above, I had to type the quote tags by hand. This is archaic!
I like the addition of the "Insert" option so I don't have to type code for the spoiler tag although I wish the quote tag wasn't buried. Clicks media button Reads pop-up Clicks embed. "The specified URL cannot be embedded as media.w"
Yeah ... so we really need the quote button back above the post entry box. So let's pull that out into its own post. I realized again how annoying it is not to have that button while posting this on the daily news thread. Quote tags aren't just for quoted posts. They're also for quotes from elsewhere. That's why we need the button.
Considering the default width of the text editor has plenty of space and that browsers will put objects on a second line if the width isn't great enough, there really is no reason to hide anything under Insert.
Love the big banner ads at the bottom of the page every time I load one on my ipad. To top it off, half the time the page freezes and I have to quit Safari and try again.
I'm not a fan of the new front page. With the old chronologically ordered blogs I could immediately tell if there was anything new. Now, I have to look at the small text in all three columns to figure out if there is anything new.
Agreed. Additionally, Alerts do not seem to be working. I should have had two waiting for me, but neither one showed up.
