    What is MLS's drug policy?

This may be a pointless meandering, but I'm pretty surprised how Ricky Williams has been treated by the media. Particularly ESPN keeps acting like he's a crackhead. Bonds and Giambi are tools, and steroids obviously is performance enhancing, but Ricky Williams is just rejecting a lifestyle he dislikes and embracing one he does. At least that's what I think.

I'm curious if anyone else sees American soccer as somewhat further left politically and socially from the culture of other pro sports. I do, but I've never discussed it with anybody.

Also, I could be way off on this, but I think there are probably a lot of dudes in MLS who smoke weed. Justin Mapp. I mean come on, that guy smokes right? Edson Buddle. DeRoserio. Almost all the guys I played with in high school did. Does anybody else think that ESPN is lame for treating Ricky Williams like they have? What is MLS policy on weed and how would everybody feel if this was an MLS situation and not an NFL one?

After that post I think we can tell there's no weed policy here at BigSoccer...

As for a league drug policy, I imagine it would fall in line with whatever policies FIFA, and therefore USSF have. Anyone know if the new CBA addresses this, or is it not up for negotiation because of the FIFA/WADA rules?

I believe that would be the reason. MLS, unlike other Pro Leagues in the US is tied to an Internation Governing Body (thru USSF) which has rules about this stuff.

Oh man, read Dwayne De Rosario's profile on the Earthquakes website:

    Here it is

He rides his bike to practice, only eats Ital foods (vegetarian), and is a reggae DJ.

Now... I'm not gonna lie. Through my experience with stoners, he qualifies 100%.

I hope MLS doesn't go crazy on this - wtf do we care if a plyer smokes pot? If anything, it gives them a huge disadvantage - if they want to do it, fine. It's like eating a pint of ice cream before a match - itjust slows them down. Now, if it were coke, then the argument could be made that it's somehow performance-enhancing but pot?

I know the main issues - pot's illegal, bad example to the kids, yadda, yadda. I don't smoke it but I did - I just didn't care for it. If a guy wants to smoke, I just don't see any difference b/w pot and alcohol. As you can tell, I would definitely vote that pot be legal :) It's just such a passive drug IMO...
