I know that most people will not agree with me, but WTH is the MLS website’s front page 90% about the USMNT and World Cup qualifying? This is Major League Soccer, not US Soccer! Last time I checked US Soccer had their own site. I know that MLS does have players on the USMNT, but again US Soccer has their own site!
Took a look today and not one story about MLS on at least the front page. It was all World Cup and USMNT. There is a place and time for that, yet the Major League Soccer website is not said place!
For a lot of casual/potential fans, the USMNT is the gateway to following MLS/club soccer. And for a lot of Americans, soccer is a once-every-four-years event. That's the sports/media environment the league is working in.
This looks like a good thread to complain about the MLS Website. Especially since I cannot find any way to give direct feedback on it. I mean, there are so many things I like: the highlights, some of the commentary, the stats. But there are other things that bug me. So today I'll just start with a simple one - in the article about Canada's loss to Argentina, they list Canada's next game as the Sept 7 friendly against the US. No mention of this Saturday's Copa America 2024 3rd place match.
I still think there aren't enough opinion pieces shared on the front page. Too much competition for video clip views I don't even "spend time" there anymore (especially when youtube has all of that plus the benefit of fanbois arguing in the comments). If they shared more of the opinion pieces on the front page I think it should garner more attention. Not to mention people would spend more time there if comments were brought back.
