my girlfriends father is pretty close with some of the revs/past revs. ive hung out with william sunsing, had him come to my soccer practices and ate thanksgiving dinner with him. i also met mauricio wright a few times. ive also ate with a few others some times. he knows basically anyone who has ever played for the revs.
I know Michael K. He's a good guy, always nice to his fans, and always signs autographs for the kids. I wish more players were like him.
This really doesn't count, but one of my old coaches was an assistant at Dallas Burn, and was up for the head coach job when Dirr left. Best coach I ever had.
I've traded multiple emails with Ian Feuer (and his mother, long story). I also worked with Marcus Hahnemann's father at my last job.
Francisco Gomez of the Wizards was my coach. He's way cool and an awesome coach. Joe Cannon and Jimmy Conrad of the Quakes are some of the greatest guys ever and I love hangin' with them.
im good friends with two brothers of a former rev and now currently metrostar. plus, i went to high school with chi fire carlos bocanegra...
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who kn I'm a waiter, and I recently had Chad Deering's brother at my table. Does that count?
I played in a couple prep matches against former KC Wizards and Charleston Battery player John Wilson. I just saw that he was called up by the Revolution and scored a goal. In high school, he played attacking mid/forward and was a big dog in our area. His team clobbered us in our first match of the season. But he was hopelessly left-footed, and our coach marked him out of the game with one of our more clever players. John was so frustrated he body-slammed him and got a yellow card. We beat them in the play-offs, but he had a broken arm and didn't figure.
Let's see. A friend of mine (and fellow youth coach) was Jurgen Sommer's teammate and backup at Indiana. Kerry Zavagnin (KC) went to the high school across the street from my house. My coach at U of M was former Tottenham Hotspur (and eventual Detroit Rockers coach) Brian Tinnian. Saw him a couple of months ago, in fact; he's helping run an indoor soccer facility in the suburbs. While at U of M I played with Steve Burns, who went on to play for USL teams the Detroit Wheels and the Mid-Michigan Bucks, and is now U of M's head coach. I also played high school soccer against Anthony Johnson, who went on to Notre Dame and the NFL (Carolina Panthers FB).
too many to name here....just most of the ones who used to play with the Mutiny and some of the guys from the Crew.
I have socialized with Earnie Stewart and his wife, as you might expect, they are extremely classy, intelligent and friendly. I have also spoken with Eddie Pope several times, a very gracious gentleman as well. My brother-in-law plays professionally in Europe, I know many non-american players through him.
