How to play: Each week you will pick one team who you think will win their game. If your team wins, you survive and advance. If your team loses, you are eliminated. Simple enough right? Well here are some catches. You only have 3 options for each team throughout the course of the season. Once you've picked a team 3 times you can no longer use them. If you pick a team that ties, you will survive but you will lose two options for that team. So you get one tie for a team and then you can no longer use them again. If you are using your second or third option for that team and they tie, you will be eliminated. The last person standing is the winner.

    Potential Scenarios:
-You pick Houston in Week 1 and they win, you survive and can still pick them 2 more times this year.
-You pick Houston in Week 1 and they lose, you are eliminated for the season
-You pick Houston in Week 1 and they tie, you survive but you are now out of options for Houston and may no longer pick them for the rest of the game
-You pick Houston for the second time in Week 4, meaning you’ve already used one option, and they tie, you are eliminated
-You pick Houston for the third time in Week 7 and they tie, you are eliminated.

    Rules:
-All picks must be made each week prior to the start of the week's first game. No exceptions will be made. If you do not send in your pick, you will be eliminated.
-Send your picks to me via PM. They are meant to be private. Any picks made in this thread will be ignored and viewed as gamesmanship. I will reveal everyone's weekly picks as soon as I can after the start of the first game. However, discussion is definitely encouraged
-When making your picks be very clear about your team and also include the team they will be beating. The reason for this is to avoid any confusion when teams are playing twice in one Week.
-If multiple players tie at the end, the first tiebreaker will be whoever has the most total options left. If the players are still tied then we will have co-champions

    Week 1 Games
    Kansas City @ Columbus
    Seattle @ DC United
    Toronto @ Philadelphia
    New York @ Columbus
    Salt Lake @ Dallas
    Kansas City @ Colorado
    Galaxy @ DC United

    2008 Round 1 Winner
    kazakal

    2008 Round 2 Winner
    schwerve

    2009 Winner
    scaryice

    2010 Round 1 Co-winners
    Revolt & matzek73

All players are welcome. This week's picks are due by Wednesday at 7:30 PM Eastern. Make sure you state the opponent in your answer because many teams are playing twice this week.

*****Please pay attention to the new rule. Ties count as 3 options now instead of 2 as it has been in the past. This means you can survive with a tie if and only if it is the first time you pick a team. If you have already used 1 or 2 options on a team and you pick them again, that team must win or you are eliminated. If you pick a team for the first time and they tie, then you survive but you will no longer be able to use that team again.*****

I think alot of the bets are going to be on the Columbus/Kansas City game and Colorado/Kansas City game.

You'd think that a lot of people would take LA, too.

Seems to be a good bet (and the one I took).

While KC is down, I just don't see them staying down and will fight their way back. The Columbus game seems more of a sure thing than Colorado fwiw

That was beautiful. I knew that the KC/Columbus game was a trap game. Colorado over KC seemed like the game to go with because they are going to have the advantage of playing KC on short rest (after the Columbus game) at altitude. Much safer choice than the Crew game. Now Colorado just has to show up.

there should be a MLS Survivor game where you have to pick a loser instead of a winner... with the parity in this league, however, that might be even harder

Funny...if KC can somehow manage a win in Colorado, they will have taken out almost 70% of the players in one week, including many KC fans like myself. I imagine if the game had started last week, NE might have been able to wipe out a group just about as large.
