Remember when the SuperDraft was important? We were all much younger then. Anyway, this year's event is starting in less than one hour. You can watch it live, for whatever it's worth ... http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...-2017-superdraft-live-starting-3-pm-et-jan-13 In other news, I think we should scrap the SuperDraft. Or at least rename it because it's no longer super. Maybe: The Passable College Player With Occasional Unexpected Standouts Draft. I think it's catchy.
It's too bad Bruce is gone. I was hoping that one of these years we'd see a pass from him in the first round.
Greetings from the @MLS #superdraft. Hearing that @MNUFC has traded their # 1 pick. Draft starts 3pm ET. pic.twitter.com/V4w57LZcBC— Alexi Lalas (@AlexiLalas) January 13, 2017
I actually had no idea the league office was originally in LA. Garber tells the Galaxy & LAFC fans not to boo the draftees just because they're not picked by LA
Hearing teams interested in moving up include New England, Portland and Dallas. #MLSSuperDraft— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) January 13, 2017
Not technically draft related but news: Starting today, we're told specific dollar amounts will be disclosed in trades involving allocation money. #VWFC #MLS— Farhan Devji (@farhandevji) January 13, 2017
Ugh ... LAFC, NYCFC, FC, SC ... Acronym overload. Don, you can just use normal words. No need to add the FC to everything.
Did Don Garber just mis-speak? He listed Atlanta as one of the teams who will be building SSS stadiums in the coming years.
.@MNUFC will not trade the #1 pick and take Abu Dunladi from @UCLA. #MLSSuperDraft— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) January 13, 2017
Starting today, we're told specific dollar amounts will be disclosed in trades involving allocation money. #VWFC #MLS— Farhan Devji (@farhandevji) January 13, 2017 I am shamelessly taking all this stuff off the comments section over from Sounder @ Heart SB Blog...
Didn't take long. The pick is in. Again, UCLA forward Abu Danladi will be No. 1. Will Adrian Heath get in Danladi what he got with Larin?— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) January 13, 2017
Whoa, that's a huge shift. I remember the interview with Garth Lagerwey rejecting the idea of announcing how much GAM/TAM was traded because it opened teams up to additional criticism of trades and thinking that was pretty pompous.
